Southland Dodge was opened in July 1968 by Joe Teuton Jr., Jeff Teuton, and Dennis Oncale. Joe and Dennis were experienced auto technicians at Downtown Auto Service on Lafayette St, and Jeff was a college graduate in Business Administration from Southeastern Louisiana University. They were also avid drag racers, and they were all under 30 years of age. The first location at 505 Sunset Ave featured a one-car showroom and a 10 car parking lot. Their racing background helped them to sell lots of Dodge Superbees, Chargers, and Challengers in the early years.

Be sure to remind the mechanic to check the calipers when they do your brakes. Had the brakes done per their recommendation and then towed it to Hot Springs and back. Had a couple of questionable small braki they do your brakes. Had the brakes done per their recommendation and then towed it to Hot Springs and back. Had a couple of questionable small braking incidents while there. Drove it to go shopping when we returned and the brakes locked up and pulled me off the road when slowing down to turn in. I took it straight back to them to change the calipers. Should have been checked and corrected the first time. I hate to think what could have happened driving those curvy roads in those hills. More
