Southland Dodge was opened in July 1968 by Joe Teuton Jr., Jeff Teuton, and Dennis Oncale. Joe and Dennis were experienced auto technicians at Downtown Auto Service on Lafayette St, and Jeff was a college graduate in Business Administration from Southeastern Louisiana University. They were also avid drag racers, and they were all under 30 years of age. The first location at 505 Sunset Ave featured a one-car showroom and a 10 car parking lot. Their racing background helped them to sell lots of Dodge Superbees, Chargers, and Challengers in the early years.

Deonica was awesome! She made sure that everything was just the way we wanted, Carla Jackson made sure we understood all of the financial for the vehicle we were purchasing. I’ll never bring my Jeep there again. Terrible service if my company Jeep and NO customer help. First service issue didn’t work. Drive 1/2 mile and engine light came in again. Brought it back that day and th my company Jeep and NO customer help. First service issue didn’t work. Drive 1/2 mile and engine light came in again. Brought it back that day and they cleared the light. About 2 miles down the road it happens again. “ engine light” the they tell me they can’t take it tell Wednesday if the following week. Didn’t give me a loaner car/ truck or a ride back to my home. Enough said. More
