Southland Dodge was opened in July 1968 by Joe Teuton Jr., Jeff Teuton, and Dennis Oncale. Joe and Dennis were experienced auto technicians at Downtown Auto Service on Lafayette St, and Jeff was a college graduate in Business Administration from Southeastern Louisiana University. They were also avid drag racers, and they were all under 30 years of age. The first location at 505 Sunset Ave featured a one-car showroom and a 10 car parking lot. Their racing background helped them to sell lots of Dodge Superbees, Chargers, and Challengers in the early years.

Had a problem with water coming into the back of the cab of my truck. Roxanne took the service ticket and Dean Click helped to diagnose the problem and see that it got fixed. Brought my truck in the Southland Dodge. Had moisture coming in the back of the cab. Have water stains on my headliner. The mechanic look at it checked everything out ordered the parts need it. Parts came in the next day took my truck there and they took it to the back right away. Gave me a loaner vehicle to use while my truck is shop.
