Southland Dodge was opened in July 1968 by Joe Teuton Jr., Jeff Teuton, and Dennis Oncale. Joe and Dennis were experienced auto technicians at Downtown Auto Service on Lafayette St, and Jeff was a college graduate in Business Administration from Southeastern Louisiana University. They were also avid drag racers, and they were all under 30 years of age. The first location at 505 Sunset Ave featured a one-car showroom and a 10 car parking lot. Their racing background helped them to sell lots of Dodge Superbees, Chargers, and Challengers in the early years.

This was the best car buying experience I have ever had! ! I came in knowing exactly what vehicle I was interested in and what price I was willing to pay out the door. As a women, this was the first time that no one tried to talk me into something else, or try to tell me what I needed. The pricing was extremely transparent and no-nonsense. From the time I walked in the door, to the time I drove off with my new car I was there maybe a total of 1 1/2 hours. And most of this was them detailing and prepping the car for me to take home. I will never shop anywhere else for vehicles again.... and I'm located in New Orleans! Totally worth the drive!! More
