We came in looking at a specific used vehicle. When we found out it wasn't what we were looking for, the saleman pushed us towards a few similar used vehicles. We were willing to look inside with an open found out it wasn't what we were looking for, the saleman pushed us towards a few similar used vehicles. We were willing to look inside with an open mind, however none matched our needs. All of the vehicles that have leather interiors have been coated in a greasy film that looks and feels gross, turning us off of all of these vehicles. We decided to call it a day and head out when the sales manager came over and began pushing the vehicles we'd just looked in once more. We explained why we weren't interested in each vehicle and he wouldn't take "no" for an answer and kept explaining away each problem we had. I understand they're trying to sell a vehicle and convince you that you "need" that particular car, but when a customer has stated several times that they are not interested, it's time to move on and not continue pushing. It is such a shame-the product-Volkswagen is stellar-but service is inconsistant-some times it is friendly & efficent; but most of time-they leave you feeling ripped off, conned-with a insincere smile! T service is inconsistant-some times it is friendly & efficent; but most of time-they leave you feeling ripped off, conned-with a insincere smile! The ONLY reason I come back for service at Greenbrier-is because I have an extended warranty---NEVER BUY A CAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP WITHOUT ONE! They are stuck with me-I plan on getting my $$ worth-and yes- I will continue to rag them when they give me poor customer service. I am going to demand it! ANYONE who does not feel like they were treated well at this dealership needs to share their experience with Volkswagen of America!!!!! More
I went to the VW dealership again they soaked me for over $1900 this time. I had a letter in my hand from the manufacture that the catalytic converter was bad and still under warranty. Do you think they $1900 this time. I had a letter in my hand from the manufacture that the catalytic converter was bad and still under warranty. Do you think they replaced? No way, and they have no intention to ever. Every time I bring the car in with the engine light on “not-surprisingly” it is a different component each time, one that is costly and labor intensive. I have replaced three components now, and still they will not replace the known defective part the catalytic converter. I also talked to many more disappointed customers in the service department waiting room again. Feel free to call me I want to write a letter to the VW Manufacturer and see if I can make a case for what is being done to customers whom bring their car to Greenbrier Volkswagen. I have yet to meet one happy customer in the service department waiting room. Art Moore (757) 339-9080 More
I purchased 2001 VW Golf from Greenbrier Volkswagen. It has been running terrible for over a year. It has had the computer scans by Auto Zone, Advance Auto, and another certified mechanic "for free each ti has been running terrible for over a year. It has had the computer scans by Auto Zone, Advance Auto, and another certified mechanic "for free each time." The code comes up as faulty Catalytic Converter. However, upon taking it to the dealership they wanted to charge $95.00 for the scan and if the code came up as anything else, then I would have to pay for those parts repair also, befor they would even concider looking at the converter. Then, of course, the code at the dealership came up as possible forward oxygen sensor faulty, which they never let the customer actually see the code or codes that come on any machine. However, I got the car back and replaced the forward oxygen sensor. The engine light is still on, after I cleared the codes then drove it the light came back on, the car still runs terrible. Now the dealership would like over $120 to scan the codes again, which is free, in 3 other locations. Here's the rub, I have a letter from the VW Manufacture that says the car is recalled for the Catalytic Converter and they will be replaced it free of charge under 80,000 miles. The car has barely 70,000 miles. The dealership's southern hospitality package is a bait and switch tactic. They want you to bring in the car for regular maintenance so they can gouge you on any other repairs they deem necessary. More
Went to Greenbrier after not getting the deal I wanted at the Virginia beach dealer. Not only did they have MUCH more inventory they also have great free benefits like free oil changes for life! (are you lis the Virginia beach dealer. Not only did they have MUCH more inventory they also have great free benefits like free oil changes for life! (are you listening checkered flag?) I got a great sales person with a wealth of knowledge and very pleasing to deal with. I recommend this place 100%. Thanks for the great deal Jay! More
I felt I should put in a review since I have been more than happy with my experience and can't understand the other reviews. I'm the proud new owner of an '08 Passat 2T thanks to Greenbrier VW. I walke than happy with my experience and can't understand the other reviews. I'm the proud new owner of an '08 Passat 2T thanks to Greenbrier VW. I walked in and told Jay what I was interested in. I wanted them to quote my car for trade in, do the financing paperwork first, AND THEN and only then would I look at the lot. I was very adamate that I did not want another new car EVER again and he was very friendly and understanding. He did everything in the order that I desired and showed me the vehicles in my price range. He was very knowledgeable about the vehicle and all it's features. After the deal was completed he sat in the car with me and taught me all the little nuances like resetting the mileage counter, changing the clock, setting the cruise, etc. He wasn't pushy and he listened to what I wanted. I left with exactly what I wanted and more. I appreciated being treated like I was an important customer. It's very hard to walk into a car dealership as a single woman and not feel like you are being taken advantage of or talked down to. Yes I'm a girl, but yes I know what horsepower is and how a turbo works. It was nice not having to feel like I was automatically assumed to be an idiot which is how I felt at other dealerships I went to. They paid top dollar for my trade-in, more than I expected. Everyone I dealt with from Jay in sales, to the financing guys, to the manager were overly friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable. I am very happy with my overall experience at Greenbrier VW and I am constantly telling all my friends and family to go!! I understand that most people do not rate businesses like this until they are unhappy.. I mean really, who honestly thinks to commend a business... you usually only think about it when you're upset. Take the criticisms with a grain of salt. They are the number 1 VW dealer in the area for a reason. Finance was wonderful. They called me back in the next day because they found me a better rate at a lower term than the original paperwork we had filed. I appreciated that, I felt like they were actually working FOR me. I have only had my car in for "service" once and it was to get my new key coded, but I was satisfied with the service department. They were very quick and efficient and I will certainly be seeing them again for regular maintenance. The service package that comes with all new and used cars is extensive. Free services ftw. More
I went for a 10,000 mile check up - i asked for a loaner car in advance - when I arrrived at the dealership I was told that someone from enterprise would pick me up momentarily- it took 15 minutes- then wen car in advance - when I arrrived at the dealership I was told that someone from enterprise would pick me up momentarily- it took 15 minutes- then went I arrived at Enterprise I had to wait for almost an hour to get car because they did not have any cars there - I had made the reservation a week in advance with VW More
Awful. They added a 3000 dollar charge onto the sticker price and claimed it was for buffing and waxing. The problem with that is the sticker price is suppose to include all dealer holding costs, etc... price and claimed it was for buffing and waxing. Went in to buy a used truck. I asked if there would be any charges in addition to the cost of the vehicle and Tax registration and tags. I was told that there were no other fees. I know that most (but not any charges in addition to the cost of the vehicle and Tax registration and tags. I was told that there were no other fees. I know that most (but not all) car lots charge a processing fee, So I verified that we (the salesman and I) were both clear on the amount I would finance, what I was being paid for my trade and the amount I would have to bring in cash (I was paying cash for tax registration and tags) When I arrived to close the deal, I was hit with a $449.00 processing fee. I was so angry at the saleman's insult to my intelligence and his lack of integrity that I did not even give them a chance to back the processing fee out. I got no calls since I stormed out of the showroom so I thought perhaps they had another buyer on the hook. Just checked today and the truck is still sitting there. As dealers go, $449.00 is a very high processing fee. But if the saleman had told me about it when I asked, I would be driving that truck right now. All I asked for was a little honesty. I did not get it at Greenbrier Volkswagen. More
I visited GB Volkswagen in 07,while talking to the salesman I SPECIFIED that I did not want a car that had been wrecked. He assured me the car I test drove was clean, offered me a carfax and I bought th salesman I SPECIFIED that I did not want a car that had been wrecked. He assured me the car I test drove was clean, offered me a carfax and I bought the Beetle. My wife lost the carfax a couple months later so she went back to GB and asked for another. This one showed the car had been wrecked. After finding this out I found the first report, which surprise was for a different car.I have called this dealership several times, asking for mngmt or the owner. On more than one occasion they put a salesman on the phone who pretended to be the owner(dont ask how I found out).Another complaint I have is that I took my car in for a "free" oil change and the mechanic tells me all my lights are not working and that the diagnostic that they ran showed the bad part would cost 898.00 to install.I left there and went to Checkered Flag and they told me a diag. had not been ran and that the part would only cost 120.00.I am now in litigation with GV and would not recomend it to anyone.
