Stay Away I went to Southern on 7/11/18 to look around for a new vehicle. My lease was up on my 2014 Passat and my husband and I decided that we wanted to buy a car this time instead of leasing one. I was greeted right away by Reggie Myers. He was super friendly and asked a little about what I was looking for. I told him that I liked the Atlas, but as soon as I sat in it, I realized that it was too big for me. He proceeded to show me the Tiguan. We took it on a test drive and I loved it! I thought that it would be the perfect fit for our small family. When we got back to the dealership, I began the credit approval process. My husband was at work at the time, but they allowed me to provide his credit information as well so that they could run us together. We had recently been discharged from a chapter 7 bankruptcy, so I knew that being approved might be an issue. Reggie came back awhile later to let me know that we had in fact been approved, but our payment would be over $1000.00. That was not good for me. He then went back to his finance manager and back to me a bit later saying the payment would now be close to $700.00. Still no good for me. Reggie said it was great that I was approved. That his Vice President had to pull strings to get the approval through Volkswagen – Otherwise, I would have never been approved at all. So he then proceeds to tell me that there is only ONE car on the lot that I can get. It would have to be the 2019 Jetta. I told him that I thought it was too small for us, but I drove it anyway because he had me thinking that since my lease was almost over, I needed a car. I liked the Jetta, but it was too small. At this point, I was tired, hungry, I had to go pick up my son.. I told him that since that was the only car I could get, I would come back the next day and do paperwork. Reggie told me it was a smart decision and I could always trade it in for what I really want at a later time – I just needed to build my credit score. I got home, thought about it and said NO.. Not doing it! I called him the next morning and told him not to do the paperwork. He asked me what he could do. I told him I needed something bigger. Within 10 minutes of getting off of the phone, he let me know that there was only ONE other car there that his manager would do for the monthly payment we discussed. It was a Black Passat with beige interior. I told him I would come by and look. Well, I never did. I went to Checkered Flag VW and ended up getting approved for the Tiguan that I wanted. THROUGH VW Credit – the SAME company that Reggie told me his VP had to “pull strings” for in order to get me approved. I should have known to stay away after I dealt with them in 2012. This was a horrible HORRIBLE experience – I felt pressured and lied to. I understand that this is how some people have to make money – but in my opinion, why would you put someone in a car they don’t want and they aren’t happy with. It is called G R E E D! Sidenote: My payment on the Tiguan I purchased at Checkered Flag is LESS than what I was paying on my lease – and LESS than what I would have paid on the Jetta and the Passat that Reggie recommended. Stay Far FAR away from Southern Volkswagen!! More
Parts order I needed to have a part ordered and work scheduled. I noticed later that there was a $56 misc charge added to my bill without explanation. Decent Service I only come here for the free oil changes and inspections. The work is okay. However, this particular appt left me agitated. I had a 3:30 appt for I only come here for the free oil changes and inspections. The work is okay. However, this particular appt left me agitated. I had a 3:30 appt for an oil change and state inspection. I called that morning to inquire if I would be able to be done by 5:00 as I had an appt that I needed to be at 5:30. I was assured that I would be done by 5:00. (Otherwise I would have rescheduled the service.) Needless to say, I was not done by 5:00 which set off a slew of unfortunate events for me the remainder of the evening. I didn't make it to my 5:30 appt and being in a hurry trying to get to my 5:30 appt, I left my tablet in the waiting room and then had to drive back to Greenbrier from Suffolk to get it; which made me late for my 7:30 appt. I realize that at a service dept, timing can not always be predicted. But that's why I called ahead in the first place. I'm only writing this now because the time before this, I had made an online appt for 4:30 only to arrive and be told that I couldn't be taken because they don't take 4:30 appts which clearly isn't how the online scheduler was set up. At that time I had gotten off work early for the appt which had to be rescheduled for the next day at an earlier time; which I also had to take off work early for. When I did arrive, the next day, for my appt time, my vehicle set in the check in area for 30 minutes before it was even moved to the work area. The dealership and service area has been very clean and comfortable. More

Poor customer service, they claim southern hospitality! I’ll I do not recommend this dealership. They were not able to work with me at all. The claimed to have a 3 day return policy, not true. They allow you to trade your car for another on their lot and you have to pay taxes again. I’m highly disappointed. More
