They were extremely patient in working with me to make sure that I got exactly what I needed and wanted. I never felt pressured to buy or do anything. Mr. Calvin MaGinnis and Mr. Rodney Elliot explained the entire process to me every step of the way and answered every question that I had to make sure that I got a good understanding and could make the best decision for me. Buying a new car is a huge financial commitment. If you don't a have the right people working with you I'm sure it can be a nightmare, but my experience was an absolute DREAM. I dealt with 4 other Honda dealerships in attempting to replace my wife's 2003 Toyota Highlander. She selected the CRV based on things that she thought were important to her. By far, this dealership was the most competitive regarding price, selection and the ease of working with the various staff that helped us accomplish our goal to buy this car. We tried with our local Honda dealer but they were not even close to Southern Motors Honda with regard to the items noted above. We will certainly highly recommend this dealership to others who ask us where we got our new car. All said and done, it was because of Maria Horan why we ended up at this dealership. She made this a very easy experience. More
My wife and I wanted a mini-van for our small family and decided to first stop at Southern Motors Honda in Savannah to look at new Odysseys. Of course everybody was nice but that goes without saying. The first sign of trouble came when the sales team heavily used the stall tactic, whereby we were kept waiting for long periods of time. This technique is often applied to wear down people to the point of accepting what ever offer is finally given to them. With our hungry daughter ready growing restless, and me growing impatient, I plied them to give us an offer for the trade-in, etc. The trade-in price they quoted for our KIA was at the bottom of the bell curve for trade-in pricing on that vehicle. This means they quoted us a trade-in price for a Sorento with high mileage and in poor condition. In fact, our Sorento has relatively low mileage and is in excellent condition. I showed them the trade-in pricing chart on USAA and Edmund's to support my claim of their low trade-in quote. The sales manager and team provided poor excuses as rationalization for the poor deal they offered. We left, quite frustrated at the waste of time and their lack of integrity. Moreover, we decided that we'd keep our Sorento because we were more than happy with it even though it didn't have as much space as a mini-van. We wound up going to Nalley Honda in Brunswick, which was a far superior experience. We wound up buying a mini-van from Nalley. It's worth the extra distance. More
Just bought a used Xterra from Southern Motors which I originally found on Car Guru.com. Scott had Xterra very well priced but the AutoTrader trade in price was low. I explained my position to Scott and we went back and forth a few times. Finally we came up with a deal which I think was fair to everyone. Highly recommend this dealership for sales. Sales associates are in business to sale cars and make a customer happy. After the sale, I was treated as if everyone was finish with me. I returned the used vehicle as agreed on with Mr. Buster Yarborough customer happy. After the sale, I was treated as if everyone was finish with me. I returned the used vehicle as agreed on with Mr. Buster Yarborough my sales representative to have all the little noticeable scratched removed. After bringing it back a second time for the same issue, Mr. Buster ignored me and rushed back to his current customer. A sales manager that had no concern for what I was there for then assisted me. He finally agreed to have the car washed and one noticeable scratch removed. After waiting another hour and a half on top of the hour I was already there pleading my case, the car was pulled to the front of the dealership and the sales manager handed me the keys at the door and said your all taken care of, without going out and ensuring what he promised me was taken care of. There is no quality control done by the sales team that sold the vehicle, from management on down. I was promised and or told three times that a few noticeable scratches would be removed from the vehicle. After great debates about a small task, still only 50% complete, for a cash-paying customer. I will be buying another Honda for another daughter soon, but I am sure there are other dealerships that pay attention to the small things that take little effort to keep a customer.
