Business Manager is aggressive and unprofessional I recently purchased a car after months of shopping around at various dealerships. I found a car at Hyman Bros. that met all of the criteria I was wanting. I went on multiple days, worked with a very professional car salesman, and finally made my decision to purchase (it took several weeks for me to commit). Since this was my first experience buying a car, I was in awe of how pleasant the experience was and how much I enjoyed the staff, until... I had to deal with the business manager, Jessica. I had a close friend with me for support during my first time navigating the car buying process and I am glad I had someone there to witness the lack of professionalism displayed by this individual. Upon entering her office, she was verbally and emotionally intense. Okay, that's fine, some personalities tend to be overpowering. However, when I declined the additional gap insurance, that's when things went south quickly. She upped her intensity, mocked me, and then told my friend to leave the office. At that point, she increased the volume of her voice and became visibly upset (red face, narrowed eyes). I respectfully asked her to decrease her intensity and stated that it was my right to decline an add on offer. Furthermore, I expressed shocked at the interaction I was having at a business. She then told me I was patronizing. In noticing that the situation was not going to deescalate, I asked for a pause in order to decrease the tension. That's when she LEFT. Grabbed her purse and stormed off. I mean literally left the building. I stood there with my mouth open, in utter shock. The salesman was able to coax her back and then we ended the night without me purchasing the car (due to having to arrange appropriate insurance and other random items). I walked out of that business in complete awe that I had just been treated so poorly (in my opinion, unjustly). However, I left with my dignity and assurance that I did not engage in aggression. I spent the night and next day speaking to my support system about how to move forward. I wanted this car, it felt like the right car for me. However, that means I would have to return to work with Jessica. At the same time, the salesman EARNED my business. After careful consideration, I decided to return but asked to "borrow" a friend's mother as a buffer. The next day went completely different having a mother figure in the room. Jessica was forcibly charming and even had an individual in training with her. I left that day with the car that I wanted. I do not typically leave reviews unless I had an amazing experience. Yet, this interaction was so extremely negative that I felt I had to share with others. I doubt much will come from this but I am saddened that this woman is employed at a business that overall was amazing. Thus, my one star review is because of this woman. It was just that poor and unprofessional. However, the salesman that I worked with fully earned five stars. Given the choice again, I would avoid this business at all cost and will encourage those close to me to choose another dealership. More

The staff did not know their job titles even (appears they change positions with regularity there) and give out conflicting pricing info depending on whom you reach. Also Hampton Chevrolet/Mazda and Priority Mazda in Norfolk both sell new Mazdas at pricing averaging $2300 LESS per vehicle (my calculations) than Hymen. And both Hampton and Priority have good service departments! Again..avoid Hyman..especially the General Manager and Service Manager...a total loser in all aspects of good customer service. More
A very good buying experience! My son lives in Richmond, VA and I'm in TN. He was searching fro a slightly used Mazda CX-5 and found on e at Hyman Brothers Mazda in Newport News. I called and Rob Morgan answered the phone and we talked about the vehicle and that I would need to co-sign. Agreed on the price and had to have my son drive down to trade in a used Ford Expedition. My son arrived around 5:30 PM and we had to do a little dickering on the Ford, but my son drive away in a very nice 2015 Mazda Grand Touring CX-5 shortly after 9 PM. Rob was great to deal with....he had a straight forward, no hype, let's get in done approach; exactly what I told him I expected when we spoke the night before. We financed the vehicle through Mazda at a very competitive and satisfactory rate. The paperwork I need to sign was overnighted by the F&I Manager Jessica leggio, who also was a pleasure to deal with. This was a very simple, clean and fair deal for us and for Hyman Brothers Mazda. Thus, I give them very high marks! More
It didn't have to be this way . My wife's children had recently purchased two Mazda's in the same day at the dealership.in Newport News. It was all good for them. We went there . Thomas was our salesman, top of the line. This is the one lone star I gave the dealership, Thomas. Once we picked the car we looked at three options, no trade in, trade in and lease. Once we looked at the numbers we took lease off the table leaving trade and no trade. The allowance for our car was fare and at this point everything was smooth. The rest was all down hill. We started to discuss financing which we elected to do ourselves. Our banker is family there was no way we would go through the dealership even if they beat the rate. Jessica kept insisting they could match the same rate with us not having to leave the dealership. "No, we are fine. " She never let up. "We can probably beat that rate." "No, we are fine." "We can qualify for any incentives, what ever the bank is promoting." "No we are fine." "It's the same, nothing is different just saving you some time." Again, our banker is like family and loyalty is important best rate or not. "No we are fine." ... No let up "I am going to grab a few applications and shop for the best deal." If she would have stop talking she could have heard us. Please, all we need is the buyer's order we will go to the bank and bring back a check just that simple!!! She got up and instructed Thomas or Matthew, Thomas brother to bring the hand written buyers order with them. At the time I didn't realized how incensed she was because we insisted seeing our banker and not go through the dealership. I quickly found out the next day. We went to the bank everything is a go we just needed to have the fax(buyer's order) sent to the bank. They didn't even have the common decency to call us. Instead they refused to send it to the bank or call us. I had to call them and they wanted us to come back to the dealership and sign the buyers order. I am 68 years old, have 50% lung capacity (Pulmonary Fibrosis) and live 40 miles one way from the dealership...but hey, it's all good. My wife went in the afternoon and they told her I had to be there as well when she signed, Her name was the only name on the registration so she left. I just so happen to be in the area (business) so I stopped by and was told by Thomas we needed to come together. At this point nothing makes sense. Thomas also said that when we returned (40 mile trip one way) to bring the Cadillac in and drop it off. His words, "you need to bring two cars." I can be there but I am working so how is she going to get back home. At this point nothing makes sense. Bottom line Jessica was upset because we didn't finance through her so she made sure we paid the price. I did call and speak to the sales manager and I respect his opinion but not his conclusion. I have purchased twenty cars in my life time and when you settle in on a price both parties sign the buyers order, the party who is purchasing the car takes the BO to the bank and everything is approved and worked out. I am old school and believe in loyalty and my banker has always had my best interest. The only time I felt disappointed in this whole ordeal is when I asked Thomas, "which would you chose, and old friend or best price." He said exactly what his generation would say, BEST PRICE! More

I didn't purchase my car the same day but after going to a few other places, I knew I had to go back and purchase from these guys. They definately earned my business. Nobody was pushy and I felt I was treated like family. The finance manager Jessica really made the most sense to me when it came down to the "extra's;" I even walked out with a great rate! That's the reason I'll recommend Hyman Bros to all my friends. More

They helped me get the car I wanted as they didn't have it on the lot and it was available to me in less than 3 days! The processing of the paperwork was quick and easy thanks to Jessica! As I had my two little ones with me during the time I was looking they were understanding and made sure to have me in and out in a timely manner! Mike was by far the best sales person I've ever worked with. Called to check up to see how things were going and again worked with my schedule as to when I could get there! I'll continue to recommend this dealership to everyone I know because you guys were just amazing! More
