I purchased a brand new 2025 Mazda CX 50 from Southern Mazda of Newport News on September 2, 2025. The initial experience with Dakota was amazing. He listened with the intent to understand my needs. I wild him i have never bought a new car I always hustled at auctions and bought used cars because I am a single mother and I had to have a car for my 2 daughters. My oldest daughter has Cerebral Palsy and it was very important to have a car with enough trunk space for her equipment, low enough to the ground for me to lift her in, and in a price range that did not kill me. Dakota allowed me to try lifting her in multiple cars and check all trunks until I found the right one. My kids and I were there for hours but I left feeling great. I even bragged to everyone I knew and 2 of my family members started the process to purchase one themselves beacuse of my great feedback. THEN things got bad. I started to feel this weird pull in the tires that made the ride rough. I noticed it getting worse in November on my drive to take visit my father in the hospital at VCU. I took the car in on November 26th and found the transmission is shot. The transmission on a brand new 2025 Mazda is shot with less than 1500 miles and I haven't owned or driven it for more than 90 days. I have not had my car since that day. They have relayed that technicians had to come out and look before they could get approved to fix it and as of this week they were approved to fix it BUT due to backorders it may be Spring before I get it back. Mazda has been allowing me to have loaners and I am trying to be appreciative but a loaner is simply NOT my car. I made my very first car payment while driving a loaner. And the loaners have been terrible. The first one was a CX 50 sport version or something and the heated seats barely worked, the seats did not adjust enough to fit my kid, and the trunk did not open all the way for me to load her equipment. I mentioned this when they gave it to me and they said the trunk opening like that was normal. I had to repeat myself 3 times before they gave me another. And upon receiving the second loaner with less than 1200 miles it says "Service due soon" and once again I said something when they gave it to me and they said this too was normal and its fine. And now when I get on the highway to take my daughter to appointments I smell burning smells. So I sad something again and now they say lets try to get you into another. It is non stop not listening and lack of customer care. I feel I should be given another car to own, the exact same as mine at no extra charge to me because Mazda sold me a bad car and they refuse to own this fact. I van understand if I went places and burnt the car out or if I had purchased the car a long time ago. But 84 days!!!!! Mazda needs to make this right without the constant inconveniences of me bringing loaners back and renewing loaner registrations constantly and simply having bad cars over and over again. Where is the customer service, where is the care, where is the accountability? The offer they made me was made stating I left the lot so my car depreciated in value so they can trade it in but I would have to pay more. And this is ridiculous. You're right it depreciated value when you sold it to me with a bad transmission!!! Mazda needs to learn how to take care of their customers better than they do their cars and take ownership for this huge inconvenience that keeps getting worse every day. More
You need to hire more mechanics. 5 hour wait for a service appointment is unacceptable. The one mechanic on shift was stressed and close to breaking. Good dealership since they removed old management. Bigger location. Bad experience at first time but now they seem to be on the right track for repeat owners. As a old DX driver it's better.
