I have a 2008 Subaru Legacy 2.5i SE which I purchased used in May 2010. The car has been great, but after the snow flew, I discovered that the tires I had on it (summer performance tires) were really not used in May 2010. The car has been great, but after the snow flew, I discovered that the tires I had on it (summer performance tires) were really not meant for snow in Wisconsin - even on an All-Wheel-Drive Subaru. I contacted Gary Mortag, and he researched options for me, and came up with a great solution. I now have my new tires on the vehicle, and am ready to go with all the snow Wisconsin can throw at me! I cannot recommend Sommer's enough. I chose to do my negotiations via email, and sent the same communication to several dealerships within 90 minutes of my home. Grant responded quickly and to the point - I could tell from the start that he would be very easy to deal with. Everything from the pricing, to configuring options on the car, to placing the order was exceptional. I didn't feel pressured a single bit about my purchase. Of the ones that I contacted, Sommer's was almost the furthest dealership from my home and I had to travel an hour one way to get there (once to order the vehicle and the second time to pick it up - I ordered it to my specifications), but it was completely worth it and I would have driven triple the distance to patronize them. All of this and they offered the best price on the vehicle of all the dealerships I contacted. Going into my search for a dealership, I had the mindset that I didn't like car salesmen and this would be an unpleasant experience no matter what, and Grant and Sommer's proved me wrong. I am recommending them to everyone I know in the market for a car, and I will be a repeat customer when the time comes in the future. More

I normally dread the car buying process, but Austin Wawak, and the Sommers management made the business of purchas was most positive and productive. I normally dread the car buying process, but Austin Wawak, and the Sommers management made the business of purchasing a new car a painless and satisfying transaction. We never felt pressured or rushed by Austin. He was very well informed on the features and options on the new Outback. If there was a part of the business process that he was unsure of, he sought out the answer on the spot. At the end of the day, when we took delivery of the car, we were confident that the business deal was a win-win for us and the dealership. I have purchased a lot of cars over the years, and my experience at Sommer's Subaru was by far the best I have ever had. Adam took as much time as needed to educate us about the vehicle features, and yet we never felt pressured to make a purchase. This is our first Subaru, and we ultimately selected the Forester because it has smooth acceleration for a 4 cylinder engine and better features as compared to other vehicles in its class and price range. It was also highly recommended to us by a relative who purchased one a couple of years ago and can't say enough about its performance and reliability. We look forward to working with Sommer's for servicing our vehicle in the future, and have no doubt that we will be just as pleased as with our purchase experience. More

This was our first time looking at Subarus, and it was also our first time visiting this dealership. We were favorably impressed by Brian's low-key, no pressure approach. He listened to us when we described our reason for looking for a new car, and he answered our questions thoughtfully and thoroughly. We test drove the Outback, and though we loved the luxury features, the headroom and visibility weren't as good as I'd hoped. We happened to walk past some 2010 Foresters in the lot, and I was curious-- and Brian asked if we wanted to test drive one. We ended up test driving the Forester and liked it but were concerned about the four speed transmission (b/c we've had cars with 5 speed transmissions in the past) -- I thought perhaps it would not be powerful enough. Brian fielded my questions candidly and capably -- he pointed out that the four speed in the Forester was time-tested and reliable, and that answer just seemed to click with me. And he let the car speak for itself when we took it on the test drive. We did some more online research and came back a few days later, test drove the Forester again, and ended up buying it. He was absolutely right. Throughout the whole process, Brian was actively listening, answering our questions with knowledge and patience, and being very supportive with respect to the test drives, our research process, and our questions about the features and options. He really knows Subarus, he is sincerely confident in the brand, and he's able to explain what he knows in a way that is appropriate for the particular buyer (we're not technical car fanatics, but we know and value performance). Closing the deal was smooth and easy. I'd gotten a quote from another dealer -- a dealer closer to home with whom I'd done business in the past -- and I told Brian about it. He said he'd see what he could do and got back to me in a timely manner. At the same time, my wife and I had been talking about what a nice experience we'd had both times we visited Sommer's -- I think we were both braced for a high-pressure sales pitch while new-car shopping, so we were both relieved and really pleasantly impressed by our visits to Sommers. It turned out to be a casual and even fun experience. Brian had spent a lot of time with us while we were deciding on a car, and we decided he was such a nice guy that we were ultimately going to buy a car from Brian if he could come anywhere close to the competing offer. And he did. That probably sounds kind of odd, but when you're spending a lot of money on a new car, you really feel like the dealer should be listening to you and making the process pleasant and making you feel confident that you're making a well-informed choice, all of which which Brian did. He just struck me as low-key and trustworthy and friendly and sincere, and if I'm going to venture into buying a brand I've never tried before, this is the kind of person I want to be talking to. In fact, one thing that led us to consider Subarus in the first place is that a lot of our neighbors have them, so when you meet a dealer who treats you like a neighbor as well, it clicks. Finding out that Sommers is one of the oldest Subaru dealers in the area is the icing on the cake -- it really gives us confidence in our choice. When our car came in, Brian checked and rechecked to make sure we got all the accessories we ordered and made sure everything was right and ready to go. After we signed the paperwork, Brian took the time to walk us through the features and the owners manual -- this is something I've never really had done when buying a car before. It turned out to be tremendously helpful and really solidified our satisfaction with the Forester. He even walked me through synching my iphone with the Forester music and phone equipment, which was terrific. Afterwards, he showed us the service department and talked to us a bit about that. That's another thing I haven't had happen before at a dealership. We've decided we're going to have Sommers do our maintenance as well. More
In addition to getting a fabulous vehicle at a great price, I was very moved by the lengths to which the financial manager went to get financing for me. I had a recent bankruptcy and was expecting to b price, I was very moved by the lengths to which the financial manager went to get financing for me. I had a recent bankruptcy and was expecting to be offered an interest rate somewhere north of 20%. I was stunned to learn that Subaru financed my loan themselves, at a rate well into the single digits. I still can't believe my good fortune in finding a dealer with a heart of gold. More
