Most dealerships you do not want to use their service I buy my VWs from Smithtown VW and have been consistently pleased with the service department. Most dealerships you do not want to use their service but this one is really excellent. They repair what is needed and do not try to pad the bill. I have found everyone respectful and professional. I got myself a full-sized spare tire for my VW Tiguan in case I get a flat on the highway or have to travel a long distance to get it fixed, since Volkswagen Germany only had provided me with a donut - whic case I get a flat on the highway or have to travel a long distance to get it fixed, since Volkswagen Germany only had provided me with a donut - which can damage the front or rear differentials in the 4 wheel drive system. So anyways, I had a gouge from my snow blower or possibly from the last time I used it running over something - in other words it was flat. Smithtown Saab/VW replaced the tire very quickly and at a fair cost... I have a brand new tire now for a spare and it matches the other 4 that are on the car. When the other 4 wear, I’ll probably take the car here for tires because they know what they’re doing and won’t lose a lug nut like this tire place in Selden did. More
Don't Even Bother Asking For a Warranty Claim I have a brand new VW, and the sidewall of my tire randomly blew out. I didn't hit a pothole, as my rim was in perfect condition, and there was no metal or nails inside the tire. So I tried to ask for VW to look at my tire for defects as sidewalls don't randomly blow out for no reason. They assured me that there is no such thing as a defective tire, and found no evidence of a road hazard blowout. So since they refused to even go through Firestone for a warranty claim since VW claimed there were no defects on my tire, I had to open one myself (which VW should had done, as that is Firestone's policy). I asked VW to call Firestone back and provide them my warranty claim reference number, and the VW service manager must have argued so much with Firestone, that the Firestone representative had to hang up on her. I don't understand why there was any conflict to begin with, as I thought both parties would had been interested in helping their customer, not just Firestone... So I had VW replace my tire, but I kept the blown out tire and brought it to a Firestone. Firestone sided with me at the end, and gave me a full refund of the tire that I purchased at VW.... Not sure why VW went through all of that trouble to NOT help me, when Firestone was so eager TO help me... seems very backwards to me.... My whole experience felt like VW was very against the idea that my tire WAS defective, and didn't want to even look at it. My family and I had purchased 4 vehicles from this dealership in the last 4 years, and this is how I am treated? I can tell you that myself nor my family won't be coming back to this dealership. Another family was ready to buy another car next month and was planning to purchase it here, but after hearing this whole story, they said there is no way they will give their business here... What a shame that you will lose out on this business because of a tire. Please review your customer service, or if this whole thing was because of policy, then review your policy... as I shouldn't have had to jump through so many hoops and have VW turn their backs on me over a simple tire. I am just glad Firestone actually tries to help their customers and was able to refund me my money. More
