I brought in car for repair, and was told the 2009 Camry needed an engine! After much hassle and aggrevation we ended up buying a used non-toyota instead. But after asking to see the damage they were talking about there was none! The engine didn't need to be replaced as they claimed, and could have been fixed for a much less expensive repair. Very upset they would lie about repairs and why? Just to sell a more expensive repair than really needed or to try to push me to buy something else? Through the entire experience (which took them a month to work out) I had to call them most of the time to find out what was going on, and have been treated with disrespect and no concern for customer retention. They have an air of self importance and have given me the impression that they sell so many cars I do not matter, if I am upset or feel I am not getting a fair deal they do not care, as long as they still make a profit on something in the end. Every visit I made there to try to work out the problem, even for what should be simple paperwork, was at least an hour and a half visit! On one occasion when they knew I was coming to look at cars they didn't even know where they were located, we needed to drive to another car lot to find some and also found out they sold one we were looking at! Very horrible service and will NEVER go there again, and would never recommend them for any service. More
Sales guy was very pushy so when I told him that I wasn't going to be working with them anymore, he started to get aggressive. The finance guy then called me and started to say unprofessional things to me ju going to be working with them anymore, he started to get aggressive. However, since then, I was contacted by the dealership and they were very friendly and helpful and solve my problems. I am very appreciative of their fine customer service, although it was after-the-fact, it was very awesome.I would recommend to anyone with a problem with this dealership to contact the management team straight away, they are A+ amazing. Thanks guys! I will be taking my vehicles here in the future, and you should too. Post from 10/12/11- I have been going here for years. Previous to the last three times they have been awesome to me. Now that I have a newer car, I have had nothing but problems. For example, they forget the car wash after I have asked them to do it twice. They have even called me to get the car, and when I asked if it had been washed, they said yes, and when I got there it wasnt. I also have perminant stains on my rugs from thier technicians not putting plastic down in the car before getting in. In addition, it took them 6 hours to do a trany flush. I scheduled the apointment ahead of time and it still took them 6 hours! They also have done numerous oil changes on my car and no one reset the maintenance light in the car. I have actually learned to reset it myself because the last three times it has gone out a few weeks after my oil was changed. All in all their work is great and guaranteed, and most of the employees are friendly. But their customer service from the technicians and attention to detail is lacking. If I didn't drive a Toyota, I would not service my vehicle there. More
Smart's customer service just called my husband and offered a refund for the inspection I discuss below, so I have changed my rankings for Customer Service from 1 to 4 and for Price from 1 to 3. But I offered a refund for the inspection I discuss below, so I have changed my rankings for Customer Service from 1 to 4 and for Price from 1 to 3. But I am leaving my review below as it was because it will remind women of something that they need to watch out for. I had emailed Smart last night with my complaint, and my husband went in and talked to the service department this morning, with no results so I don't know what triggered the call now but I am happy that it did--perhaps someone finally read the email that I sent last night. I had the oil on my 2010 camry changed last night. When I dropped the car off, I told the service person that I wanted an oil change and nothing else and that my husband had just changed the air filter, the cabin filter and rotated the tires. I then went to the waiting room and they came in with an unitemized estimate. The unitemized estimated included an all points inspection. There was nothing on the unitemized estimate page to indicate that the inspection was an extra service, so I assumed that the inspection was something that they did with every oil change--Ballweg Motors and Jiffy Lube include a free inspection with their oil changes and I assumed that Smart did too. I told them to go ahead after I had once again said that the cabin filter, air filter had been already been changed and the tires had already been rotated. My car has only 30,000 miles on it and there is no need to inspect it for the things that are included in their all points inspection (especially when they knew that I would not need an air filter change, cabin filter change or the tires roated as those are the only things that could be wrong at 30,000 mile) so they are selling an unnecessary service in my opinion and they are not clearly presenting it as an extra charge service. The inspection cost $38.00. When I got home and showed the receipt to my husband, he told me I had been ripped off, and I agree becaused I had made it clear to the intake person that I ONLY wanted an oil change. I am a woman who knows nothing about cars and this is our first car that uses synthetic oil, so I did not know what a synthetic oil change should have cost. I am sure that there are other women out there too and I am posting this as a warning to them. In my opinion, the all point inspection is a rip off for a low mileage car that already has a new air and cabin filter and whose tires have been rotated, and I think it is deceptive for Smart to not either point it out as an extra charge service or to not show an itemized charge for it on the estimate. If I had seen a $38 charge for the inspection on the estimate, I would have figured it out right away. I complained to Smart about this but they claim that their procedures are not deceptive and that they do not sell services that are unnecessary. I disagree!!!!!!!!!!! More
Purchased from Smart Used in Dec 2011. There were a couple minor problems with the car (no second key, and we found out after I signed the papers that it needed a new battery - and an expensive battery couple minor problems with the car (no second key, and we found out after I signed the papers that it needed a new battery - and an expensive battery, too (diesel engine - higher cca). Anyway, they paid for the second key, and bought and installed the battery, despite that I'd already bought the car and they were no longer really responsible for it. I've certainly dealt with used dealers who would not have gone to this trouble and expense. And afterward the sales guy Bill - I can't remember his last name, tall white guy - he followed up with me regarding how I liked the car, was it running okay, was there anything I needed, and so on. Overall a very positive experience. They are a relatively small used lot of course. Smart Motors is mostly new cars, but I'll be going back there when I need my next vehicle, whether it is to be new or used. Thanks Bill, Thanks Smart Motors More

Although i had an extended warranty, the service reps seem to always resist wanting to deal with it, they will charge you an exorbitant "diagnosis fee" even when you already know what the problem is and seem to always resist wanting to deal with it, they will charge you an exorbitant "diagnosis fee" even when you already know what the problem is and they can easily see it. They even refuse to check if the issue in question is covered by the extended warranty until they charge you a diagnosis fee first. Then after you jump through their hoops, their rate they charge for repair/service is very high and generally at the top or higher than all other shops in town. They are not necessarily friendly, they simply try everything they can to clean your wallet before you walk out. many other shops do better service with far less hassle and for much less out of your pocket ... i will stay away from their service department More

Really was pleasant to deal with a salesmen that wasn't pushy at all. I did most of the work over the internet. Tacoma was very reasonably priced, and Toyota certified (only 16k on it). But when I showed up to get the truck (drove 2.5 hrs.), things went south in a hurry. Salesmen was great, but as soon as we went in to sign papers we got a couple versions of the "run around". Caught the guy we were dealing with in two lies. This does not pertain to the salesmen I dealt with over email, phone, and in person, but rather, the guy in the financial dept. Long story short, he was trying to tell my wife and I that our USAA (one of the most reputable banks out there and a military backed bank) check (proof of financing) wasn't good. Said it probably was "ok" but they couldn't accept it because it takes too long to process. Really was persistent that I get Toyota Financing, and that was the only way I could walk out the door with the keys. I got my bank on the phone twice, both times the bank official on the other end talked to me, then him. They told me that they do thousands of car loans ever year and this is how they do them every time and they have never had a problem. The second lady told me it really sounded like we were being haggled (which after two lies I caught him in the middle of, I already gathered that thus far). She recommended that we leave unless he accepts the check. The only reason I persisted is because I got a great deal on my Tacoma. After more than an hour in the front lobby, he left and came back with "well luckily the store manager was in the back and he gave me special permission to accept this check." If he wasn't so persistent on the Toyota financing all throughout the time we were there, and the fact that he blatantly lied twice, I would of believed him about the check we were trying to give him. But alas sir, I say no, I have been in sales before, and sir, you cannot sell a salesmen. In all I believe he saw a young (23 yr olds) couple who "didn't know any better", and he was trying to squeeze whatever they could out of us. Thank god I had my bank there to talk to (thank you USAA) because they confirmed what I had been feeling. I will never go to Smart Motors again. I won't mention any names, but I will say in my research I found that the guy we had a problem with started out in the maintenance shop, then was promoted to financing... I am sure not everyone there is like this (like our salesmen... he was good), but this was my experience and anyone who is as shady as this has done a good job of steering me away for good. I have been around used cars and dealing with them a lot, and this really is your worst nightmares about used car tactics. Again, just my experience with one guy. More
Andy Kaiser is a fabulous salesperson and sales manager. I have purchased many vehicles in my life and I would say that I wish every experience had been as positive as my experience at Smart. More

THEN without them telling me it was sold I sat down wi Madison for an appt to see a vehicle and it had 1 or 2 days prior, without them notifiying me!
