I could not be happier with the entire process from everyone at the dealership. Sales Manager Cliff Kozerski, Sales Manager Tommy Huynh and Business Manager Matt Ehmke were all great. They let me know that they wanted my business, but not in a pushy way. They were always courteous & professional during the negotiating process. They really worked with me to help me stay within my budget. Now that I've had the car for over a week, I really love it. Best car I've ever owned. I strongly recommend Honda, and in particular, working with Smart Honda in Des Moines. More

Excellent Car Buying Experience Working with Leon was great. He was knowledgeable, personable and most importantly, wasn't pushy or persistent. Lied to They claim that their used cars get a multi point inspection and everything is guaranteed to be fixed, if needed, before they sell you the car. I bought a used vehicle from them and received the usual lip service about how they truly care for their customers and was given a paper showing the vehicle had been inspected and there were no problems with it. At the time the weather was warm so it wasn't until a few weeks after I had the car that I needed to use the heater and defroster and noticed there was no heat or defrost on the passenger side. I checked the paper I was given that showed they had checked this out and was working fine. Obviously they lied. So when I took the car back and asked them about it I was told that the guy who did the inspection found the heat to be working on the drivers side so in their view it passes inspection and if I wanted heat and defrost on the passenger side i would have to pay to get it fixed. More
Stay Away I recently purchased a 2012 Honda Pilot from Smart Honda. The vehicle is great and I feel I got it at a fair price. The problem I have been dealing with started when we signed the contract. I left a $500 check with a business manager to hold the vehicle for one night while I went to the bank to get the money for the purchase. I was assured that the check would not be cashed....just needed to hold the vehicle. When I returned to pick up the vehicle, I paid the amount owed in full and left the dealership. I realized a day later that I did not get the $500 check back. We contacted the salesman, who went to check on it's status and informed me it has already been cashed. I find it odd that a $500 check in a deal jacket, along with a check that was for the entire amount, would be cashed without trying to figure out what it was for. I called at least three times, to no avail, to find out when I would get the money back. I finally had to go to the dealership in person to make things happen, two weeks after we picked up the car and 13 days after the $500 check was cashed. I spoke to the manager of the finance department and he had no idea what was going on, did not even know we had this problem. I then spoke to the General Manager the following day, and the same thing...did not have a clue regarding my situation. After I spoke to him, he promised that he would follow up with me that same day. True to form, never heard back. Two days after my visit the check showed up. While I did get some apologies when I went in to confront them in person, never did they offer any sort of compensation for the incredible inconvenience...not even a couple free oil changes! If you are shopping for a vehicle and can find the same vehicle elsewhere, I recommend you look there first and keep this experience I had in mind. More

I was greeted by Kelly Osborn when discussing new CR-Vs. He was very arrogant and proceeded to tell me that he sells 40 cars a month. Kelly first lied to me about the 0.9% financing. He then also lied to me about the colors they had in stock. After giving him an offer he proceeded to say "you may as well leave right now." After I returned from a test drive, he said, "I am sorry for being a dick earlier." He gave me a final offer. I went to lunch and thought it through. After receiving a different offer from a dealership in Kansas City, I went back to Smart Honda to see what Kelly could do. My boyfriend and I were very disgusted with the way Kelly acted next. We explained to Kelly that we were going to go with the offer from Kansas City and that we did not like the way we were treated at Smart Honda. Kelly became very defensive and tried to turn it around on us. I told him that he, as a salesman, should never have to apologize "for being a dick". He DENIED that he ever said that and once more proceeded to explain that he makes $200,000.00 a year and that I shouldn't tell him how to be a salesman. I said that I was sorry that he lost our service and then asked him for customer service. He yelled "You get off of this lot right now!" I asked a fellow employee who was standing by, "Excuse me, can you show me where customer service is?" He shook his head no. I said, "You don't know where customer service is?" He said that he didn't think that they had any! My boyfriend and I left to go to our car, but I asked one more employee before leaving. He directed me to customer service where we explained to a manager the situation. He just apologized and did NOT act on the situation. Needless to say, I was completely disappointed and disgusted with the way I was treated at Smart Honda. I will never recommend this dealership to anyone. If you see Kelly Osborn driving his corvette, feel free to give him a piece of your mind! More
