Used BMW purchased, after-purchase repairs necessary Purchased a used BMW 328i from Smart Chevrolet last week. My salesman, Sammy, was very friendly, helpful, and straightforward on his knowledge of the Purchased a used BMW 328i from Smart Chevrolet last week. My salesman, Sammy, was very friendly, helpful, and straightforward on his knowledge of the vehicle. About 100 miles off the lot, my 'check engine' light came on, as well as 4 other notices on my dashboard (2 parking lamp malfunctions, sunroof anti-trap malfunction, reverse lamp malfunction). Needless to say, I was immediately concerned with the quality of my purchase and contacted the dealership to discuss my experience. After speaking with the service department and meeting them the following week to have the car looked over, finding what they believe to be the defect(s), they offered to conduct the repairs at no cost to me. I will be bringing the car in later this week for said repairs and will surely update this post to reflect the final quality of service after the repairs are confirmed to be appropriate. **Update** Slightly over a month after purchase: Unfortunately, the service conducted on my BMW was quite poor. After visiting the service department twice after the purchase of the used vehicle, my service light came on once again, only a few days following service. Instead of dropping my car off for a third day (at an hour drive away),I took the car to AA, had the codes read, and bought a new intake camshaft sensor. When I went to replace the 86$ part, I found that the technician that worked on my car had left the air filter manifold hose loose, which was thus allowing unfiltered air into the engine. Following this unsettling discovery, I took out the old intake camshaft sensor...only to find that the technician had not replaced it--but it seems they merely put a gasket on it and cleared the code before handing back the keys. The service desk had also mentioned that they thought there was a faulty VANOS solenoid that they would repair. I have recently purchased a cable that allows for reading BMW codes on my computer. To this date, the service engine light is still on, so after reading the codes--It would seem that the suggested maintenance is to replace the intake VANOS solenoid... When I dropped of the car the week after buying it to have all of these issues checked out, the service desk made sure I knew that the repairs were "covered by the sales team." Well, I'm not very impressed by their generosity, seeing as it costed them 10 cents for a gasket and a few hours of what I would hope is a BMW tech-trainee. I am very disappointed in the service department and If I hadn't already fixed half of the issues myself, I would have returned the car for the trouble that I have gone through for it--and am continuing to go through. More

Checked the internet and found a VW New Beetle on the website for $6500.00 Called and spoke with a salesman who stated the car was still there and available for purhase. Called the salesman on his cell website for $6500.00 Called and spoke with a salesman who stated the car was still there and available for purhase. Called the salesman on his cell phone requesting a call back to verify info while on the way to the dealership( 45 minutes from where I was) and got his voicemail --- requested a call back that never came. When I arrived at the dealership , asked about the VW since it was not obvious on the car lot. Another salesman stated "Oh - I sold that 2 weeks ago." Verified it was the Harvery Wheat VW with leather interior and 17" alloy wheels. The new salesman states : Yeah - I sold that myself 2 weeks ago.... its been gone" At this point saleman #1 comes up and says he was mistaken but there was PLENTY of other used care for me to see. Amazingly ( insert sarcasm) , all were twice what the VW was priced at. ughhhhhh...... More
