I dropped off my 2021 Honda Accord at Smail Honda in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. I dropped it off on Sunday, November 19. I received a text message Monday, November 20th offering further servicing. I was unable to respond to the text immediately, but called back within an hour. At that time, the technician stated that the servicing mentioned in the text had already been completed. He stated that they had inspected the vehicle. I said that the inspection was not due until January. In fact, the car was inspected on 1/30/2023, so there was over 2 months left on the inspection. He replied that the inspections were free. I said that is true, but I have to pay for the emissions. I asked why the remaining maintenance services were provided? He said they were not major servicing, just mini servicing. The vehicle has 18,300 miles, the next scheduled maintenance is 20,000 miles, Based on my current usage, that servicing would not be needed for 2-3 months. Thus, what should have been a simple oil change for $100, turned into a bill for $237. I was not expecting that. Nor was I happy that they performed these services without my verbal consent. I fail to understand why services that were not pressing at the moment, be conducted without the customer's authorization. To me, if their goal was to extract money from a customer, then their choice was a success. If it was to focus on what the customer wanted and how to best serve their needs, then it was a failure. This, combined with the last experience that I had with the service department--when I requested the vehicle to be completed at 3:00 PM, upon arrival discovered that it was not complete. The technician was very kind and apologized saying that they had a number of people who dropped off cars, but wanted to wait for them to be finished, put my vehicle behind them. I said, that is fine, but give me a call and let me know that was the situation. As I result, I wasted a trip to the service department. And my car was not finished until almost 5:00 PM. It would have been better for me to not ask for a particular time, rather drop it off and ask to wait like the other customers. To me, if their goal was to extract money from a customer, then their choice was a success. If it was to focus on what the customer wanted and how to best serve their needs, then it was a failure. The dealership's sales department has been one of the best that I have ever encountered. However, unless it is for a Manufacturer's recall, I will not be using the service again. Nor will I recommend their service to anyone else More

Although I don't have a complaint about the quality of service from this center, I am very unhappy with the cost. Approximately one hour after I paid for service, an email was sent to me from Honda offer service from this center, I am very unhappy with the cost. Approximately one hour after I paid for service, an email was sent to me from Honda offering a coupon for an oil change with Multi-Point Inspection for $19.95. This is much less than what I paid for these services yesterday. I probably won't need these services until next November 2024. Troy told me in a text today that he will honor that coupon when I need it, even though it will expire 1/22/2024. I appreciate that, but I would have liked to use the coupon yesterday if I had it then. Honda's prices are ridiculous! More
