‼️ Advice for anyone in the market for a new vehicle; I 10 out 10 do ❌NOT❌ recommend going through Shottenkirk Kia of Quincy (Brian Lewis) as well as the finance department at Shottenkirk Chevrolet (Nathan 10 out 10 do ❌NOT❌ recommend going through Shottenkirk Kia of Quincy (Brian Lewis) as well as the finance department at Shottenkirk Chevrolet (Nathan Herzing - finance manager and Lonnie Schuyler - General Manager). I recently purchased a Kia Carnival listed at the Kia dealership in Quincy, IL. The whole experience was absolutely beyond horrible and still is 2 weeks later. They were extremely rude to my husband and I the whole time, harassed me at work by calling me and raising their voices, being smart-a$$es insinuating that I was lying, etc - to the point of me being in tears because they were trying to tell me I owed them another $2,900 two weeks after signing paperwork, agreements and contracts. They sent me emails and left voicemails as well. They tried to blame us for THEIR mistakes and literally told my husband he needed to “man up”. They threatened to not turn in my title and license application two weeks after purchase agreement had already been signed by both me and the finance manager AND after they had already collected the full purchase price amount on the agreement. Shouldn’t they have already sent off my title and license application as 14 days had already passed since I purchased the vehicle? They told me they would come get my vehicle if I did not pay the $2,900 they said I supposedly owed because THEY messed up on the paperwork and purchase agreement (they already cashed the check I gave them from my bank and received my $500 deposit to hold the vehicle which all equaled the full purchase amout reflected on the signed purchase agreement). They also told me they would not sell me the vehicle at all if I didn’t purchase the premier warranty that said OPTIONAL (so I ended up agreeing simply because I love the car). Everything and everyone listed above were overall incredibly unprofessional and did not represent the kind of employee’s or reputation I would think a dealership would or should want at Kia and Chevy Shottenkirk whatsoever. If I could go back in time, I would have walked away the first time they were rude to my husband and/or me. I’ve never been through such a horrible experience with a dealership in my life and I will never go back there. Side note; IF you do happen to do business with them, The ONLY person I would recommend/advise you to go with as far as an employee in sales is Gary Mayes or Karri Walker - they are both Sales & Leasing Specialist at Shottenkirk Kia. They were kind and seemed like genuine people that wanted our experience to be a good one. More

Bought the car with lots of promises. Took several phone calls and several trips over there to actually get the things done to the car that were promised. Mix ups at the shop that caused Took several phone calls and several trips over there to actually get the things done to the car that were promised. Mix ups at the shop that caused me to have to go back more than once because they didn’t do what the appt was set up for. In the end they did get the work done that they promised. Jordon was my original salesman and wanted me to come and look at a specific car and when I asked him to make sure it he was still there he said it was. I drove over there and it had sold 4 days before! I told him I was on my way but when I got there he was busy so they put me with someone else. They are not willing to come down on prices at all. They make you buy some crazy $1500 package that includes windshield replacement, nicks, dings, wheels etc. you have to buy it whether you want it or not. They also tack on about $700 in other fees so as soon as you buy the vehicle you are a minimum of $2200 in the hole. All of that extra has to be financed unless you are lucky enough to have the money to pay cash but you still have all of the fees. More
Overall my experience wasn’t terrible. However I didn’t feel very confident in the salesman I had originally had nor the whole deal in general. They showed me price/monthly payment estimat However I didn’t feel very confident in the salesman I had originally had nor the whole deal in general. They showed me price/monthly payment estimates would be if I financed through their dealership (whatever banks they use). Then I went to my local bank and they quoted me a pretty significant amount lower monthly payment than the dealership was offering. So I financed through my local bank. When I went in to get exact numbers to give to my bank in order to purchase the vehicle they told me I HAD to purchase the premier warranty. I said no, I do not want any extra warranty at all. They said it’s not an option & they would not sell me the vehicle if I did not purchase the premier warranty for an additional cost. We argued back & forth and the salesman was rude. I understand he had to go by what his manager told him but his whole demeanor changed when I said no, I didn’t want the extra warranty. They made it seem like it’s included in the price when it’s actually another $1,500 tacked on. I mentioned knowing & being friends with a guy from the other Shottenkirk in town (Toyota) & said I wondered if he would make me pay for the extra warranty there or if he’d take it off like I’m asking you all to do. The salesman replied with “you can call him if you want, but when he calls here to inquire about the vehicle to get it at their lot, we will not release the vehicle to him because there’s an open inquiry on it”. I said “who’s the open inquiry? Me”? He said “yep”. So because I was literally just looking at & getting an exact price on what it will actually cost in the end, but i did not want to pay for the extra warranty that said “optional” on the paperwork, they would refuse to release the vehicle to the salesman at the other Shottenkirk store on purpose. Simply to not let him sell me the vehicle. That was rude and I was done talking at that point. The head manager did come out when my husband & I were leaving & said they would cut the warranty price in half & we could still get the warranty. I just agreed & went on because I really did want the vehicle. The day when I came in to sign paperwork, the finance guy told me the total price would be $37,000 which was not what I had discussed the day before with the salesman at Kia Shottenkirk. He said well that’s with the warranty as well. I asked if it was the premier warranty & he said no, it was A DIFFERENT warranty they were wanting me to purchase. I said absolutely not. Take it off. They took this other warranty off (but still left the half price premier warranty on) then came back & said the total price was $31,000. So whatever extra warranty they were trying to get me to purchase was an additional $6,000 on top of the premier warranty that is already $1,500? xxx?! Glad I said no & made them take the additional warranty off making my overall price way less than what they originally tried to say. I don’t think I would go back to this dealership to purchase something else unless I went directly to Gary. I spoke with Gary briefly & sat down to look at options when Brian was busy with another customer. I enjoyed doing/talking business with Gary much more. He’s understanding, gives the facts but is kind and not pushy about it, gives recommendations, and overall has good communication skills. When I came to do paperwork & pick up the vehicle, it still had not been detailed yet even though it was sitting in detail for 2 days like they said. They knew I was coming to get it too. My car smelled like smoke when I picked it up & still does 2 weeks later. Even my kids notice it and say it smells weird. I did not smell smoke in the vehicle at all when I first saw it at the dealership so I don’t understand how that happened in between one day from when I first saw the vehicle in person to when I picked it up. I was just ready to get out of there and haven’t mentioned the smoke smell to them. It’d probably be pointless anyway. More
