Our experience with our purchase from Shottenkirk was extremely over the top!! At NO time DID we EVER feel like we were pressured, hounded or beat to death to make our purchase. We can comfortably say it was totally our decision to make our purchase. Actually we spent so much time there checking out every option available to us that we had lost track of time but our Sales Rep Ed Heathcote never made us feel like he was missing out on anyone else. He and his team made us feel like we were the most important people on the planet while we were there. And they still continue along with everyone else at Shottenkirk Chevy dealership to make us feel like we are the most important people on this planet. Now I must tell you honestly we had purchased from other dealerships in the past, names and makes ARE not worth mentioning at this point and always felt rushed and hounded like you rolled up on the wrong side of Chicago or like we had to make our purchase of something we were less in love with or our sales rep was going to die the minute we left the lot! But since we stepped into Shottenkirk Chevy dealership and met our Sales rep Ed Heathcote we have had the BEST car buying experience EVER!!! We had been looking for some time and this was not our first trip to Shottenkirk nor will it be our last! I was looking for a new Colorado extended cab but they didn't have the color I wanted in stock. Josie found one for me and had it delivered for my inspection at Shottenkirks. We went to Shottenkirk due to a referral from a friend and were immediately greeted at the door and met with Josie Morin. I had given her the information of what we were looking for and she had everythin and were immediately greeted at the door and met with Josie Morin. I had given her the information of what we were looking for and she had everything ready. We were test driving the vehicle in less than 5 minutes. She knew all of the details about the vehicle and how everything works. Made us feel right at ease immediately. I had been dreading the negotiation part of the deal and it was painless. She presented me the numbers, I countered with what I could work with and they came back with a deal I could live with. While I was meeting with the financial gentleman, the other associates entertained my children. We drove away with a new vehicle. It was a great experience and I will definitely recommend Shottenkirk and Josie! More
After trying other dealerships we took the trek out to Waukee. My Step father had bought a vehicle there and had been very happy. It was late on a Thursday night. Ed met us out front. Did an amazing job of listening to what I was looking for and finding something that would work. He never seemed to be "ready to leave" or pushy to make the sale. Actually at one point he said, "The car will still be here tomorrow if you need to think about it." That told me a lot. Ed was great! I went into the finance office and I was told that they were able to keep me to the payment that I was looking for with the rate that they got. My big issue with this part was that they never told me that there was a possibility that the bank would not be able to get me the rate that they quoted me. There was no option to void the contract if the bank came back with a higher rate (which is what another family member, that I recommended to them, got when he went in late one evening). I signed all of the paperwork and drove off the lot. The following Monday I got a call from the finance department saying that they were not able to get the rate that they quoted, they switched banks and got me another rate that was not as good as they quoted but better than what the original bank came back at. It was not a huge difference in my payment, but to me it was the principle. I was asked to come back out to sign a whole new set of papers. I took the 30 minute drive out and re-signed the papers only to get a call a couple days later to say that there was one form that they forgot to have me sign. So I drove out again. During my first trip back I had told them that the stereo had a short in it and it sounded like one of the speakers was blown. They told me to bring it back out. They told me they would find another stereo and replace it. After telling me that, the stereo worked just fine, but the speaker still didn't work. I told them this and they decided to replace the stereo anyway. Mike told me that he would have to check if the speaker would be covered under my extended warrenty and "the guy" that he needed to talk to was gone for the day. He originally was going to give me the paperwork for the stereo when he found out about the speaker the next day, but before I left he said "why don't we just close this out now" as if he had already decided that they weren't going to replace the speaker. He called me the next day and told me that they weren't going to change it under the warrenty and it would be $150. I told him that I wasn't going to have it changed. Then I find out about a week later that the CD player on the newly installed stereo doesn't work. In summery: overall good experience. Ed is awesome, ask for him. But be careful with the finance and service departments. More
