Following up on my experience with Sheridan, the issue remained unresolved, May 23rd thru June 16th when I stopped by to try to address the issue with Tim Sheridan. I expected to meet a mature, professional businessman who was cable of having an intelligent dialogue. Instead I came face to face with a childish, petulant, hostile individual. Upon introduction, Mr. Sheridan, realizing who I was became aggressive, displaying a shocking lack of self-control. It quickly became apparent that nothing would be accomplished. I did request a copy of a form they “claim” my son signed in advance, authorizing the repairs in question. He informed me, as well as everyone within earshot, that I had no right to that form legally. Only the person who signed it can request a copy. First I’ve heard of a service repair invoice falling under the confidential category similar to a HIPPA law😁. As emotions escalated, I felt uncomfortable, intimidated and slightly threatened, so I headed for the exit. But Mr. Tim Sheridan wasn’t quite finished with his diatribe - shouting across the showroom, “No good deed goes unpunished!” I cannot imagine what those around us thought watching a grown man throw a temper tantrum towards a customer, not to mention the lack of respect shown towards a woman. As a side note, when my son “the signer” stopped in to request a copy of the form, the employee was unable to locate it in the file (Surprise!). Obviously, they had no such form. The one positive thing that came from this negative experience? It forced me to think outside the box and discovered there are options available to consumers like myself who experience questionable business practices like those displayed by Sheridan Service. Take note: 1. File a claim online with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission), a federal, bi-partisan agency that tracks consumer complaints across the nation as well as globally! They issue a report annually about the complaints gathered and share with law enforcement and other consumer agencies. 2. File a complaint online with the Delaware Department of Justice - Consumer Affairs. They are the state’s chief law enforcement agency and can handle disputes, documenting shoddy business practices, and possibly offer mediation. 3. File a complaint online with the Better Business Bureau. They forward the complaint to the business and expect a timely response. This can affect the BBB’s rating of the business. Consumers need to advocate for themselves in order to be heard. Don’t just be bullied like I was in hopes that intimidation would make their error disappear.
