Received a Truecar price offering with a VIN. The pricing was $1,400 over MSRP but I was willing to pay over to get a vehicle with the options my husband wanted vs order under x plan and wait. Many of the dealers in my local area Truecar pricing included a $10k over MSRP pricing so I chose to deal with Sheehy based off of their pricing certificate. The dealership received my contact info. We discussed/confirmed the availability of one of the trucks from the certificate. They asked me to bring in our trade in for valuation. Said it would be easy. Husband made the hour trip. When he arrived, they discussed another vehicle that had a $10k market adjustment over MSRP. I talked to the rep and told him I wasn’t interested and wanted to focus on the diesel truck from the certificate (the one spoke by phone and email). That’s when he told me they wouldn’t honor the pricing. They said they don’t honor third party websites (Truecar). I found that to be absurd when they set the pricing in Truecar and sent me the offer. Pretty upset because of all the wasted time and never had this occur before with another dealer. I was willing to pay the $1,400 over MSRP but they won’t sell it for that price. They want $10,000 over MSRP. It just sounds bogus and very dishonest. I even contacted the GM, Frank McCarthy as this seems a little strange especially since it isn’t a loss but just additional profit. He mentioned he would see what occurred and get back with me.
