Bought a Ford Explorer there last year after mine hit 200k. I drove an hour to get there after finding the truck at an online website. When I got to see the truck the inside was very messy from the previ 200k. I drove an hour to get there after finding the truck at an online website. When I got to see the truck the inside was very messy from the previous owner and they claimed they didn't have time to clean it. When I took the truck for a test ride I noticed the gas level was warning light low. I liked the truck so I decided I would buy it after they had cleaned it and mentioned the truck was almost out of gas and was told they would take care of it. I came back the next day to pick up the truck and found they had cleaned the truck througly. I drove the car out on my way home and a block away I noticed that no gas had been put in the truck. Luckily there was a gas station close by. I had to put in 22.009 gallons of gas in a 22 gallon tank to give you an idea of how close it was to running out. More
Our truck was running funny, so we called up the service center at Sheboygan Chevrolet and were able to get in the same day. So far, so good. The truck was diagnosed and came back with an expensive repair. center at Sheboygan Chevrolet and were able to get in the same day. So far, so good. The truck was diagnosed and came back with an expensive repair. Per service, all fuel injectors needed to be replaced; each at a cost of $350.00; total repair cost almost $4500.00. As any normal thinking person that does not have this kind of money stashed under the mattress, we went part hunting on the Internet and found the fuel injectors for $201.25 at www.OEMPartsForLess.com. What Sheboygan Chevrolet failed to mention, there is a $100.00 per part core charge, which they would have received, once the “faulty” injectors were sent back. A friend of ours is a certified GM master technician, so capable of performing the necessary repair - needless to say for much less than Sheboygan Chevrolet. So we ordered the parts, dropped off the truck at our friend's house and he started working on it right away. We had the diagnosis from Sheboygan Chevrolet - so what could go wrong. We were pretty surprised, when our friend, the certified GM master technician called us to let us know, the truck was still behaving the same way. It did not need fuel injectors! We took the paperwork we received from Sheboygan Chevrolet along, when we picked up the truck. Our friend punched in the error code, the technician at Sheboygan Chevrolet received when diagnosing the truck, and nowhere in the instructions was a word about faulty fuel injectors. So we had a meeting with the general manager, as well as the service manager. We were told, and I quote "we would stand by our repair, if we would have done it and not charged you for it". Stop me from laughing, but do you really think that any dealership or shop would "eat" a repair of $4500 and only charge us for the stuff that is really wrong? I don't think so. And, they actually asked us what we wanted them to do. When we told them that we wanted to be reimbursed for the parts and labor we paid unnecessarily, the answer was “that is not going to happen”. They actually had the nerve and blamed our friend, because he trusted their diagnosis and did not test the vehicle again. This just tells us that they don't trust their own technicians and recommend seeking a second opinion, when bringing a vehicle to them for diagnosis and repair. We will take our truck elsewhere and have it diagnosed. Hopefully the technician at Bob Fish in West Bend knows what he is doing and can find, what is really wrong. Since our friend does not have the equipment for a big diesel truck like ours, he recommends Bob Fish. But our friend's thought is, just by looking at the code listed on the bill for the diagnosis, yes, they charged us money for misdiagnosing the truck, that the ECM board is bad. If that is the case, the repair will be around $500.00 compared to an unnecessary repair of $4500. And Sheboygan Chevrolet looked us straight in the eye and told us they would have done this job for nothing, if the repair had fixed the truck. Yeah right. More
