Not going to lie, I've had some issues a few years ago looking at some cars at this dealership when it was just Jeep. I went there this time looking at a Subaru and did it through their internet salesmen looking at some cars at this dealership when it was just Jeep. I went there this time looking at a Subaru and did it through their internet salesmen and had a very different experience. I dealt with two different internet salesmen (because it was over two different days) and both were very helpful. I ended up seeing Michael Pieper and he was pretty easy to work with. They gave me a decent price, not much above invoice. There was the obvious usual back and forth with any car dealership, but in the end they worked with me and I believe ended well. Their finance guy John McCann was also very helpful, he even called me back a week later and said he was able to get me a LOWER interest rate, which was a big help. I've never heard of that before, but it was a major help in my book. More
Mark Anderson held my car hostage and overcharged me basically on everything. I have a 2008 Subaru with 25,000 miles and he recommended I have over $2,000 in service repairs. I will never return to Sh basically on everything. I have a 2008 Subaru with 25,000 miles and he recommended I have over $2,000 in service repairs. I will never return to Shaver Automotive Group in Thousand Oaks, watch out everyone......this is a huge rip-off!! More
Untrustworthy. I sent my son there for the standard Untrustworthy. I sent my son there for the standard 30K service. Shaver, like Barber and Sherman Oaks which are 30 miles north and south respectiv Untrustworthy. I sent my son there for the standard 30K service. Shaver, like Barber and Sherman Oaks which are 30 miles north and south respectively, quoted him $500. We came to discover that of the 3, only Shaver doesn't include parts. The other 2 prices were complete. This brought the total to $752. Just to give you the flavor, all 3 charge extra for the cabin air filter if you need it. Of the 3, only Shaver tacks on an additional labor charge of $60. The other 2 include as part of the 30K. This added another $99.90. The bill exceeded double because my kid agreed to a Shaver recommended fuel system cleaning service ($150) which Subaru NEVER does as part of the regular maintenance schedule over the life of the car. Subaru said they can't control what independent dealers recommend. This last thing is as contemptible as it is unnecessary. They've been a Subaru dealer for maybe one year. What experience can they be basing this recommendation on? We complained but my son had signed the estimate and they held him to it. They relented by giving him 10% off and they decided to honor their direct-mail coupon for the cabin filter though he hadn't presented it at write-up time. Oh yeah, despite numerous phone calls regarding the status of the car, they never let him know it was ready. We went there and tried to pay the cashier and get the car but the service department was closed and didn't present a bill. Since the car's status was unknown, the (assistant?) sales manager had to give my son a loaner so he could return to his home in the city. He returned the next day to deal with the above and get his car back. Btw, the sales manager was very nice and sympathetic but she did not think there were performance differences between 2007 and 2008 STi model years. Maybe the service department got the additional service recommendations from her. More

Horrible experience, sub-par customer service, questionable business practices, no selection, high pressure sales practices, dishonest people. Purchased a subaru from them and it has been the wor questionable business practices, no selection, high pressure sales practices, dishonest people. Purchased a subaru from them and it has been the worst experience I have had, and this isn't my first subaru. They just want to make a sale and will do anything to sell you, regardless of the consequences. I recommend staying away from these guys and going elsewhere, you will save money, have a bigger selection and avoid a lot of headache. More

I have had my 2007 Jeep Compass in to Shaver Jeep about 9 times now - to have them fix noises coming from the front end. The first time I brought it in for a steering wheel/suspension noise they just sprayed times now - to have them fix noises coming from the front end. The first time I brought it in for a steering wheel/suspension noise they just sprayed WD-40 down the steering column (and that took ALL day) and machined my rotors WITHOUT my permission. After three tries, they finally realized it was the left front strut making the noise and replaced it. Now the car makes a new noise resulting from the replacement of that strut. I've had it in three times for the new noise and driven with two technicians - including their "noise guy" Tony. David Simone, my incompetent and unhelpful advisor, had me go on a test drive with Tony because he (Tony) was unable to hear the noise - so on a test drive we went and sure enough, Tony heard the noise. Tony said he had no idea what the noise was and suspected that I had tread separation on one of my tires, which he then checked and ruled out. After that Tony told me (and I quote) "that the noise wasn't that loud and probably would take a long time for him to figure it out" so he told me to "just put the radio on." WHAT??!?!! Just put the radio on?? I was SHOCKED and APALLED. I work in the automotive industry and I've never had anyone tell me to just turn the radio on to hide the noise. I'm reporting them to Chrysler Corporation for this as well. I explained to him that my car was under warranty and that warranties are meant to guarantee that the car was in good shape - he said he knew that and understood my frustration. RIDICULOUS! Then David Simone says, why don't you bring your car back tomorrow and we'll check it out again...I asked what they were going to check again because they had had my car for two days already - then I asked what they checked, specifically, and David Simone wouldn't say, he just kept saying they "checked everything." I am NEVER returning to SHAVER - I will now drive the the Valley to go to David Ellis because they know how to treat their customers and are well worth the drive. I am also going to be sure to tell anyone I know about what a terrible dealership and service center Shaver Auto Group is. More
I bought two 2008 Subaru Imperza's on the same day. During the deal the GM Christian made a few rude comments. The biggest problem with this dealer was the quality of the cars I purchased. Both cars ha During the deal the GM Christian made a few rude comments. The biggest problem with this dealer was the quality of the cars I purchased. Both cars have scratches and small dents. I didn't notice these marks on the car till the following day. My girlfriend and I were there late purchasing the cars. I call the next evening to speak to the GM Christian about the dings on the cars. As I am explaining the to him about the marks on the cars, Christian fires back " What do you want me to do? Ive spend too much time with you on this." I would not recommend this dealer to anyone. Please do some research before considering this dealer. Oren More
I purchased a used car at this dealership last week. The value was excellent...way below Blue Book and I got the car I wanted. I called in advance on an internet special and was skeptical that it would act value was excellent...way below Blue Book and I got the car I wanted. I called in advance on an internet special and was skeptical that it would actually be there when I arrived. It was and, although there was some hagling over the price and extras, the used car salesmen and finance manger Dustin, were extremely courteous and responsive to my requests and worked out all my concerns and questions to my satisfaction. Deal went smoothly and I drove away that night with my car. Staff was also very available days after the sale for additional questions I had. I haven't purchased a car in 15 years and was nervous and a bit worried about how, as a single woman, I would be treated. Everyone I dealt with at Shaver in the used car devision was professional and helpful and no high pressure. Nice location/area to purchase a car also. Was an all around pleasant experience. More
