Worst experience ever...Sales manager was horribly rude and unprofessional. The sales manager, Tyler, threw a tantrum after I expressed my dissatisfaction with their prices, and went so far as to make pers and unprofessional. The sales manager, Tyler, threw a tantrum after I expressed my dissatisfaction with their prices, and went so far as to make personal attacks. Car buying involves negotiations, which can become aggressive. Tyler's inappropriate behavior has demonstrated his inability to function responsibly and appropriately in his role as sales manager. The owner Andy has failed to contact me after several attempts. It appears that this dealership is a "boys club" where they foster disrespectful, inappropriate behavior. I will never do ANY business with this business ever again. I will strive to ensure that none of my friends and family give their hard earned money to people that behave in such despicable ways. Overall, a terrible experience devoid of any customer service. More

We set out looking at Consumer Reports 5 top rated smaller SUV's. We drove to Shaver to test drive the Forester. Sales Consultant, Pablo, greeted us and we explained to him we were testing 5 vehicle smaller SUV's. We drove to Shaver to test drive the Forester. Sales Consultant, Pablo, greeted us and we explained to him we were testing 5 vehicles and narrowing it to the top 2 we liked before making a decision. No problem. We wanted to see the top of the line Forester which he showed us and explained all the features. I asked about the Outbacks and found that they had 6 cylinders and that it was a higher quality. So we test drove the Outback then the Forester. Pablo was very knowledgeable and patient with our questions. The Outback ended up being one of the top 2 we chose to give a 2nd test drive. Again we dealt with Pablo and again he covered all aspects of the vehicle. Although we ended up with the other vehicle, we would not hesitate recommending the Outback and dealing with the very patient and knowledge Pablo. More
I knew exactly what I wanted to pay for my brand new Forester, I knew exactly what I wanted to get for my good old Forester, and I ended up getting both! Fast, easy, painless. Everyone were straight fo Forester, I knew exactly what I wanted to get for my good old Forester, and I ended up getting both! Fast, easy, painless. Everyone were straight forward, happy to help and cut me the deal. I'm paying less for a new car now than what I was paying for my old one, PLUS a nice fat check in my pocket. And let's not forget the free 2 year maintenance plan! Shaver Subaru hooked me up! A while back I had a really bad experience at Subaru of Sherman Oaks and since I'm a long time Subaru fan (this is my 6th Subaru) I decided I'll try Shaver even though it's a much longer drive. It was definitely the right choice! I would recommend this dealer to anyone! As a matter of fact I already have! More
I would highly recommend the service department at Shaver Jeep Subaru in Thousand Oaks. Recently, I took my 09 Subaru Forester in for service and was pleasantly greeted by Marc St. Pierre, asst. service man Jeep Subaru in Thousand Oaks. Recently, I took my 09 Subaru Forester in for service and was pleasantly greeted by Marc St. Pierre, asst. service manager, who was very helpful and got me handled. No fuss, no drama, just a fair price and positive experience. And I was able to use coupons! Most importantly, my car was ready when promised and the work requested was done correctly and the first time, which is what I really needed as I am a busy professional and do not have time nor patience for less than suberb customer service. The Shaver staff was friendly, including the cashier who was busy when I picked up my car. The dealership was fresh and clean and I will definately go back for my next service to Shaver, they rock! I found a vehicle at Shaver online via Autotrader.com. The price listed was 21,884. After inquiring about the car and trying to make a deal (asking for a sales price of 21k) I was told that there wasn't The price listed was 21,884. After inquiring about the car and trying to make a deal (asking for a sales price of 21k) I was told that there wasn't any room to move. Ok, I can understand. They told me they own the car for more then what they're asking but are cutting their losses. Ok, I can understand. Still very interested in the vehicle I continued to watch it and decided to buy it. Reviewing the autotrader add one more time I noticed that an option listed in "Seller's Description and Comments" was "Roof Rack." The roof rack was not visible in the pictures so I called to ensure it was included. They told me that it was not, and that it was not their responsibility what was in the autotrader add. They told me they did not do the add and didn't provide any description and thus would not be including that in the sale. Mind you this is around a 300.00 dollar piece of gear if I were to purchase it at the dealer. So how much is it at cost? Is it worth losing a 24,550 OTD sale and continuing on with a bad reputation? I think the next time I sell a vehicle on autotrader I'm going to list that it has 20 inch solid gold wheels, after all I don't have to stand by it I guess. So no sale and a shady un-reputable dealership. More
I was at your dealership today looking to purchase a car in cash, Unfortunately your sales men Tyler Ross, and Bryan Berquist stopped me from doing this. First off Bryan was a very nice guy, I got to test d in cash, Unfortunately your sales men Tyler Ross, and Bryan Berquist stopped me from doing this. First off Bryan was a very nice guy, I got to test drive the car and it made a lot of sense for me to buy, when it came to talking numbers Bryan started to get very unprofessional by not really knowing that much. Then it turned out a car that I was looking for was at another dealership, which I was fine with. So after a while of negotiating a price and a trade in value, we were all set to buy the car. Then Tyler Ross sat down and said that he could not do it no matter what, and he wanted to raise the price 3000$ more than we had previously made. Now this was a little over my budget, so I said that I can't do that, He responded that he had the #1 dealership in California and that he makes his prices. Now I this got me a little angry, because in business you can't go anywhere with this "mr.hotshot" attitude that he has, then he became increasingly rude and began to stand to initiate that our time here was done, and by the time he was standing he made so many rude and belittling comments to me that it actually began to threaten me. Then as a simple question I asked at what dealership this subaru that we were looking at was located and he answered in a yelling manner "NO" then he stormed off to his little podium as we walked out the door. It was completely uncalled for and unprofessional behavior More
I was looking to buy a Mustang GT and saw a slightly used car at Shaver over the internet. I called and made an appointment to see the car with John. He was very nice, not at all pushy. He let me drive the c car at Shaver over the internet. I called and made an appointment to see the car with John. He was very nice, not at all pushy. He let me drive the car and was very low key. When I left he did ask me if there was anything he could do to get me to buy the car today. I had another to leave but I made an appointment to come back the next day. It was pretty clear that Shaver - like most dealers- uses a sales system. John was a young guy and i expected that I would be turned over to a more experienced sales guy when i returned. Sure enough, the next day when i went back John was with some other customers and I got to work with Patrick. I went on another test drive and decided I wanted the car. Then i got to hash out the deal with Patrick who was older and obviously more experienced. Most sales systems rely on an information gradient where the salesman has most of the information and the buyer has less. When buying a car I try and reverse this as much as possible. I came in with a pre-approved loan, a car calculator on my smartphone (the calculator from Edmunds is great), and a few comparable car prices from other dealerships. I knew exactly how much I was willing to pay and how much I wanted for my trade in. At this point it is essentially a matter of sticking to your guns as the salesman (and system) will try to pry every last dollar out of you they can. At Shaver I settled down for the hour or so of psychological games and stuck to my guns. In the end I got exactly the deal I wanted and drove off with a great car at an excellent price. I would recommend Shaver with the caveat that you should be prepared before you go in. Everyone there was very nice and they didn't do anything downright sleazy (only a $250 fee for optional 2 day return of the car if you didn't like it - this was put into the contract and never mentioned - I had them take it out). Bryan was extremely knowledgable about the vehicle. We have bought 2 Legacies within 10 months from Shaver. Admittedly the car sells itself, but it's not a very conspicuously marketed vehicle, in my opin have bought 2 Legacies within 10 months from Shaver. Admittedly the car sells itself, but it's not a very conspicuously marketed vehicle, in my opinion, as opposed to other Subaru models like the Outback or the Impreza, so a good dealer presentation is essential for a sale. Bryan was great at that- I went in to look at an Impreza; he quietly steered me to a Legacy, so successfully that now we have 2 of them. The dealership overall was friendly and low-key; we never felt pressured in any way, and the quality of the product they sell is outstanding. More
