Unfortunately there is no way to tell if a new part is defective until it is installed ina vehicle. While we apologize for this, there was no way for us to know in advance that a part is defective. We also use parts from the manufacturer such a oil filters, air filters, etc. That contributes to the difference in oil chage prices at a dealership vs other places. Oil change prices also are affected by what type of oil is used in a vehicle. Most manufacturers today prefer synthetic oils which lubricate your vehicles engine longer and keeps it cleaner than traditional oils.
