Overall the staff was very helpful, and really wanted to help us with a vehicle. However, the process was much to long. There was quite a bit of dead time as we sat around for answers to this and that. In that area alone- Serra Hyundai acted like every other dealership. As a result of knowinf people in ALL levels of the auto industry, I sincerely know that it should not take 4 hours to purchase a car More
Salesperson William Slater was very knowledgeable about the Hyundai's line. Did not pressure me into buying a car, but worked with me to get the best deal and a car payment I could afford . We just purchased an Elantra from Alen. he said he was the General Manager of the store, so we were supprised that he was helping us. He said he had just arrived at the position, and he wanted to assure the proccess was perfect for his customers. From the looks of it, there have been some unhappy customers in the past, but if any of those customers would have worked with Alan or his new staff, I'm sure their experience would have had a different outcome. Thanks! Martin V. More

I called to verify and the woman friendly told me that this was correct and that she was looking at the vehicle. After the 45 minute drive to the dealership, the same lady switched me off to another salesman who told me that no such car existed. INSTEAD, however, they had a DIFFERENT color/interior version for $1,200 more that there were trying to sell. After showing them the email, they refused to apologize or strike a deal for the trouble. Instead they rudely showed me "the door" and offered me few dollars in gas (which I refused). The manager MELVIN RAYMOND was quite rude and short, and again, refused to apologize or attempt to reconcile the issue. False advertising, scam, and rude to boot. I have purchased six vehicles from Serra and will never buy another. VERY DISAPPOINTED that Serra did not try to solve the issue, OR AT LEAST APOLOGIZE. This is apparently how they treat valued customers.... More
like dwharris, we had a very bad experience dealing with blake at serra hyndai in birmingham, al. at first he seemed perfectly amiable, but not knowledgeable, and as my husband said, "he reeked of desperat blake at serra hyndai in birmingham, al. at first he seemed perfectly amiable, but not knowledgeable, and as my husband said, "he reeked of desperation, i don't think he stopped sweating for even a minute". we test drove the hyundai elentra, and he gave us a suspicious song and dance about how the elentra we were looking at (a more stripped down model) was not available, the keys were checked out. we would have to test drive the model with all the "bells & whistles" - no problem. we set out, and the drive was fine, no complaints, other than the fact that blake didn't have the answer for some of our questions, and was clearly xxxxxxxxxxxx his way through what he didn't know. he lead us back to his cubicle to talk, and my husband asked him for the out-the-door cash price. after asking him for his social security number SEVERAL times, and running back and forth between his cubicle and his manager's office, tossing stacks of papers for us to sign and fill out - including asking us to list "referrences", we started to think we should just walk. finally he sat down, and gave us this bogus act, where he had a number that was WAY over the sticker price, crossed out, and the 22,100 number that dwharris got from him was written underneath. "wow, my manager really came through for us with this price" yada, yada, yada. the out the door price was 23, 065. we were so flustered and confused by that time, we thought, well, that's an ok price for the loaded elantra, and maybe we can just think about it, and let you know. well, that's when the truly offensive and underhanded tactics picked up momentum. both blake and the sales manager started putting on major pressure for us to write a check that night. when my husband said, you are losing us, we are getting out of here, the manager started back tracking, saying, "oh, i misunderstood! i thought you wanted to buy this car tonight!" what a crock. when basically had to fight our way out of the door. it was a terrible feeling. by the time we sat down at a nearby mexican restaurant for some well deserved margaritas, we were both steaming mad at how we had been treated. i would never go back there! the sad thing is, we really are serious, and ready to buy a car, but this experience has really taken the wind out of our sails. THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS!! (And extremely rude ones too!) THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS!! (And extremely rude ones too!) Been looking to purchase a new 2011 Hyundai Elantra GLS, and shopped all around until I fo THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS!! (And extremely rude ones too!) Been looking to purchase a new 2011 Hyundai Elantra GLS, and shopped all around until I found Serra. Had a sales person, Blake, who appeared extremely nice over the phone, and told me they had the exact model and specs I was looking for. He told me the list price was $21,443, which is already about $1000 over MSRP. I might have been okay with that price if it had actually ever made it that far. I had been quoted from a dealer in Montgomery (where I live), that he could get me one for $20,490 (approx. MSRP), but unfortunately, they only had one in stock and I didn't want it because of the color. After informing Blake of the price I had been given by this dealership, Blake told me he could match the price, $20,490, out the door. After having my father (who was cosigning with me) discuss further details and make sure Blake was absolutely serious, which he assured us he was, we set out for Serra. It is about an hour and a half drive from where we live, and took us quite a while to get there. After we got there, they did have the model and options I had wanted, but the sticker price was EVEN higher (first red flag) than Blake had told me. It was somewhere over $22,500. Blake said this was no problem, he would get us to the price point, which we repeatedly told him, was $20,490. So we go in and being "negotiating." He brings us out the first number, which was just under list price (approx. 22,100??), and says "I have to pretend like I'm trying to get the best price possible (for the dealership)." After coming back several times, but yet still never bringing us $20,490, he brings a sales manager in. Although the manager at least appeared courteous, he essentially told us that there was ABSOLUTELY no way he could sell the car for that price. At this point, despite my father's fury, we raised our offer to $20,800 out the door, and finally settled on $21,000 with the sales manager, with monthly payments being $295 a month, for a 60 month term (we were putting $5000 down on the vehicle). We were relieved because we thought that we had finally managed to reach an agreement. Blake went back to run our credit, which he had already ran once, and noted that it was excellent, meaning we would have no problem receiving the special 3.9% APR currently offered. Finally he came back and told us that everything was settled payments would be $295 a month for sixty-SIX months. 66! Even after we'd agreed on 60 months, they came back with 66, which added $1,770 to the total purchase price. At this price, the total paid would actually be HIGHER than the original dealer price we started with! We got up and walked out. To top it off, as we were leaving, Blake rudely called out, "I'll see you back here later whenever no one else meets your price!" He said it rudely and arrogantly. I would NEVER shop here unless you just have thousands extra to blow, because they will rob you of your money, and pretend like they're cutting you a deal, even when the math is plain-as-day in front of your face. Flat out liars, cheats, and xxxxxxxx, that should be sued for breach of oral contract. More
