A week ago, on Monday August 17th, I went to Seminole Toyota to take a look at a vehicle that I found online. My dad had gone the Friday prior to see the vehicle himself, and then felt it was worth my t Toyota to take a look at a vehicle that I found online. My dad had gone the Friday prior to see the vehicle himself, and then felt it was worth my time to go and look at it. The salesman we worked with was named Jason, who turned out to be useless in the end. We ended up leaving the dealership without a deal due to Seminole Toyota not being able to meet us at our price point. On Tuesday August 19th, the General Sales Manager Craig Lattz contacted us wanting to know if Jason answered all of our questions, and by the end of the communication struck a deal with us, meeting the price point that they refused to contract with us at the previous day. My father told him we would come in that afternoon. However, on Monday, we were told by a salesman that there would be no problem with me taking the vehicle to a mechanic to have it checked out prior to purchasing, since the vehicle warranty expired. When we arrived that afternoon at 4 p.m., as the salesman was preparing the car for us to take it to a mechanic, the GM Craig Lattz comes out to tell us that we could only take the car to a mechanic if we had it back that day by 9 p.m. …… BECAUSE the deal he agreed to would ONLY BE HONORED THAT DAY. It was after 4, and there was no way I would be able to get that car to my mechanic before they closed that day at 5. Therefore, we were pressured into entering into a contract, without a mechanic inspection, that afternoon. In my opinion the deal was good, therefore I decided to move forward, ignoring all red flag warnings I felt were rising in the back of my gut. At this point, I am introduced to the REAL PROBLEM, finance manager JAKE LOWE (I am not sure on the correct spelling of his last name) ***WHO, IN THIS COVID 19 PANDEMIC NEVER WORE A MASK DURING EITHER DOCUMENT SIGNING MEETING WE HAD***. Let me guess, you think that we can inject ourselves with bleach too right??? As we were proceeding through the paperwork that I was to sign, he was literally “throwing” one form after another in front of me to sign, in which I had to ask him after a minute to SLOW DOWN. I recently graduated from law school, and one thing I was taught was NEVER SIGN ANYTHING WITHOUT READING IT!! I express to Jake that he is going to fast, and that I can’t read ANYTHING he is putting in front of me. There were obvious bolded statements on certain documents that I was trying to pay close attention to, but he was clearly irritated by my desire to read them. He kept saying trust me, and negated my desire to read by lying and saying “Lawyers are the first people to come in here and sign this paperwork without reading anything, matter of fact they bring a rubber stamp with them to sign”. I let him talk, clearly knowing that he was lying, and was horrible at it. He was going so fast that he didn’t even offer me any of Toyota’s warranties. He asked me to sign the form that I was not purchasing a warranty, and I inquired about one of the warranties that was listed. He then explained to me about the warranty, and I bought one, making sure not to buy the tire warranty that he said was a waste of my money since Toyota tires aren’t as expensive as the tires on my BMW that I already own. I sure hope Toyota doesn’t depend on his sales tactics to make any extra money off of customers. At the close of our deal, I ask for copies of everything I signed, and Jake tells me that I am the 3rd person in 4 years that has asked him for copies of the signed paperwork. Again I disregard the comment he makes as a false statement. The next day, Jake contacted us because THERE WAS A MISTAKE WITH THE PAPERWORK!!! Go figure, if you rush through the contracts, isn’t it plausible that a mistake will occur???!!! He also insinuates while speaking to my father that I intentionally misled him during the process, therefore being the reason for the contract mistakes. Wow… When I am able to finally get in touch with him directly, he arranges for me to come in Sunday August 23rd, to complete the paperwork over again. I have now had this vehicle in my posessionvfor 4 days, without a contract! On Sunday, I come in and speak with a Sales Manager Rolando about issues that I noticed with the car, and received good customer service in regards to my concerns. I then met with Jake Lowe again, for his opening statement to be “If you want to read the documents, I can give you all of the paperwork to go sit somewhere else to read what you want and sign at your leisure, but I have other customers I will have to get in here in the meantime. I listen, but don’t respond, because I know that as a customer I will read the document if I choose to this time, and I would not allow him to blow me off while he takes care of another customer. I am at this point blown by the LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE I am experiencing, but want to just get this deal done and get far away from this guy. He AGAIN, starts throwing all this forms in front of me, one after another. I stop him on a particular form that he is asking me to sign, that has 3 boxes that were not checked off, therefore making the form incomplete. (I WILL ATTACH A PICTURE TO THIS POST) I ask him about the boxes, and he then tells me someone else would check them off, and he WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO CHECK ONE. At this point I am confused as to why I am being asked to sign an incomplete form, which stated in bold “UNDER PENALTIES OF PERJURY, I DECLARE THAT I HAVE READ THE FOREGOING DOCUMENT AND THAT THE FACTS STATED IN IT ARE TRUE.” How do I know if the facts stated in the document will be true AFTER I LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP, AND ANYTHING COULD BE MARKED ON THIS FORM. I questioned him about the statement, and he then SNAPS ON ME!!!!!! He grabs all of the papers, tells me that “HE DOESN’T HAVE THE PATIENCE TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS OR EXPLAIN ANYTHING TO ME”, along with other inappropriate statements, shuffles the papers together, and tells me that I can go somewhere else to finish signing the papers. I’m in disbelief at this point, that an employee from Seminole Toyota was just so blatantly disrespectful and humiliating of me, as a paying customer, for nothing more than rightfully asking a question about a document I was being asked to sign. He is obviously used to hundreds of customers coming before him, and not asking him any questions, but I am a customer who likes to make informed decisions regardless if I’m spending $50, OR $14,000!! I immediately gathered my personal belongings to exit Jake’s office as he yells to me “DO YOU HAVE A RIDE BECAUSE YOU CAN’T LEAVE HERE IN OUR CAR!!” I locate the sales manager Rolando to express my utter disbelief with the way I was just treated. He tells me that he was going to find another finance manager for me to speak with about what just happened. As I waited, the BULLY named Jake approaches me in the waiting area to tell me that he just contacted the GM and the deal was off, and they no longer wanted to do business with me. I never spoke with anyone else. I AM SHOCKED that the GM would approve of this type of bullying, demeaning, and disrespectful behavior of customers. If the GM approves this behavior, he is at this point he is professionally and morally complicit in the behavior displayed by Jake. At this point in 2020, nothing else will surprise me! If I was a man, HE WOULD HAVE NEVER SPOKEN TO ME OR TREATED ME THE WAY HE DID!! Luckily, my child was sitting there with me while making videos on his social media, and we discovered when we left that he recorded the conversation and the way that Jake was disrespectful when he spoke to me!! EVIDENCE is key! They will think twice before they treat another customer this way! I have many people to contact regarding this awful situation, and many platforms to make my negative experience known. IF IT HAPPENED TO ME, IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU TOO!!! Jake, the blunt marine, as he refers to himself… tell me what bothered you about me the most? Was it that I was educated? Was it that I was a female? Was it that I was black? Was it that I asked the questions that no one asked you? Was it that I wanted to be informed about the legal documents you asked me to sign? Was it that I would not allow you to bully me into signing each document that you threw in my face without the opportunity to read? Was it that you could not control me? If anyone wants to speak with me regarding this GOD AWFUL EXPERIENCE, please make sure you can relay to me first WHY JAKE WAS SO BOTHERED BY THIS PAYING CUSTOMER!!! This behavior of Jake asking me to sign incomplete and incorrect documents is borderline FRAUDULENT! DO NOT PURCHASE FROM SEMINOLE TOYOTA!! More
