First and foremost this dealership did not in any way, shape or form misrepresent anything. We utilize AutoCheck by Experian for our vehicle history reports which in our experience have been more reliable and accurate than CARFAX. While we are now aware that the vehicle was involved in a minor, no part replacement needed, accident this does not mean that CARFAX is completely correct as there is no information available concerning the alleged 2nd accident. The previous customer, a reputable local business person states unequivocally that the vehicle was not involved in any accident except the one that required the repainting of the bumper. Furthermore the repainting of a bumper cover does not in reasonable terms affect the value of a vehicle. Car Fax by their own admission has no basis for determining their affect upon a vehicle except to say it is “automated based on a statistical analysis of a (type of) vehicles history, market value and (love this) other factors that help create the CARFAX Vehicle History Based Value. There is no law in the State of Connecticut that mandates a customer must disclose damage when they trade a car in. When we complete our safety inspection on a vehicle we check for any structural damage, improperly completed previous repairs as well as the overall condition of the vehicle. A repainted bumper is not anything of consequence. Sincerely, Paul Holden, General Sales Manager

Subsequent to to review that I wrote on 7/31/2017, Secor responded via Mr. Holdenon 8/2/2017 as set forth. Assuming the veracity of Mr. Holden's claim that Secor had no knowledge of the accident and/or resulting repair history of this vehicle prior to their reselling of this vehicle to me, I am left with the question of why Secor is apparently unwilling to help me to discover exactly what is the actual accident(s) and/or repair history of this vehicle in order that I may work with Carfax to correct any errors in its valuation of this vehicle. This issue began as a result of a Carfax report in early July. I had been planning to either sell or trade the vehicle and was surprised by the content of the report regarding accident history. I reached out to Secor and waited for their help. None has been forthcoming, for some unknown reason. When Secor finally did address this concern of mine, they claim to still be in touch with the prior owner, who Secor states is "a reputable local business person", to have spoken to them, and that based on their conversation, they have verified that the vehicle has been in at least 1 previously undisclosed accident which Secor characterizes as "minor" reportedly requiring just some repainting of a bumper. Honestly, I would be happy to trust Secor on this, but Carfax won't amend their report based on what is at least double hearsay. Nor will any other party offer me anything but a reduced trade in value or purchase price for this car. In order to verify Secor's assertions, it would be very helpful if they were willing to help me secure a copy of the accident report and or repair order stemming from this "minor" accident. I would be happy to trust but need to verify the claims that they've made ostensibly on behalf of their other customer. I can understand Mr. Holden's defense of his dealership and admire his loyalty to their other, "reputable" customer. But, in the absence of the production of a copy of the accident report arising from the admitted incident, and one surely exists and is the basis of Carfax's report, I must question the true basis of his apparent and ongoing refusal to help this customer correct a problem not of my making.
