At a car dealer I'm used to seeing salesmen ready to pounce on a potential car buyer but in this case I had to ask for help at about 6:30pm on a Friday. Seems the clunker program has had Scott Clark Toyota pretty busy. Jose Hernandez was asked to help me and he did a fine job from start of me just wanting to look at a Scion xB to finish of me buying one under the clunker program. It was easier for Jose and me since the Scion price is non-negotiable. The ridiculously high documentation fees dealers want to charge these days ($599) was a point of negotiation, however, and that went pretty smoothly with Jeff. There was no high pressure at any time, even when extended warranties were presented to me by Carlos the finance guy. I declined as I've found Toyota makes a quality product. More
I would have given the overall experience a GREAT except for the experience I had with the Finance person. I had a misunderstanding with the individual about timing of how long he would hold my check until for the experience I had with the Finance person. Robbie was wonderful. I wanted a specific color of a Toyota Highlander and Robbie worked very hard to get me the car that I wanted. I came in July 31, 2009 to look at new cars, preferably a hybrid Camry or Prius. I quickly realized that I could not afford either at this time. He was extremely patient and took whatever time needed to make sure I was getting what I wanted. This is the second car I have purchased at Scott Clark Toyota in the last 12 months and I have all my service done at this dealership. I will continue to do so because of Tim Wright and Janet, the service advisor that I use when my car needs to come in for service. Also enjoyed meeting Mr. Mayo in finance. He was very helpful. We were pleasently surprised with my experience at Scott Clark's Toyota. Everyone we dealt with was friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. Allen was very patient and helped us through several different scenarios to complete the purchase. Allen also demonstrated exceptional quality of work and attention to detail. He was very friendly and worked very hard to accomodate our requirements. We were very happy with the final price of our new vehicle and felt it was extremely competitive. I would recommend this dealership with a warning to closely check paperwork, expecially the "we owe you" form. I agreed to buy a Tundra if the transfer of my stereo (consisting of receiver with cassett closely check paperwork, expecially the "we owe you" form. I agreed to buy a Tundra if the transfer of my stereo (consisting of receiver with cassette player, 12 disk CD changer, 4 speakers, amp and subwoofer) were covered by the dealer. I even told the sales manager (Mr. Abernathy) I was willing to keep the radio/CD player already in the truck as long as the amp and subwoofer were transferred. The hand-written "we owe you" signed during the sales nagotation stated stereo, as did the writing "hold for stereo swap" on the windshield of my trade-in. As I failed to notice, the typed "we owe you" form stated radio swap, not stereo (which ended up costing about $730.00). Freeman's Car Stereo did the work, and when they called for a P.O., were told by the dealer they would not pay it. When I talked to Mr. Abernathy about it, he became angry and belligerent with me and told me they agreed to swap the radio only and I could bring the truck back. At that point I had not noticed that typed "we owe you" form stated radio, not stereo. I was going to take the truck back until the financial consultant (Matt Hoffman) got invloved and had $500.00 authorized. I opted not to take the box the supwoofer was mounted in and kept the old box, so the price dropped $50.00. I still had to pay about $170.00 to get the truck. Mike Delanty and Matt Hoffman were great and very helpful. I will never deal with Mr. Abernathy again, and will not buy from Scott Clark again because of him. More
