I was looking for a good used 4Runner 4x4 for my son that is in college at App. State. I searched Craigslist, and all the dealerships in the area. I ran across a 2001 4Runner SR5 4x4 with 75k miles at Scott is in college at App. State. I searched Craigslist, and all the dealerships in the area. I ran across a 2001 4Runner SR5 4x4 with 75k miles at Scott Clark's Toyota. I called and spoke with Travis Wilson and scheduled to stop by that afternoon to see it. I went to the dealership around 5:30pm and met with Travis and also met Stephen Pecha Used Car Director. Stephen told me the vehicle just had the timing belt, water pump, tie rods and all the service done and that it was at the body shop having the front bumper repainted because of cosmetic chipping. Apparently this is a standard practice for this dealership. With the low miles and all the service current, I was sure that I had found the right 4Runner 4x4 for my son in snowy App. State in Boone, NC. Travis said the car will be ready Saturday so be here at 12 noon. I filled out my paperwork, got approval and was ready to go. This was on a Thursday and my son was coming home Saturday and it was also his birthday so this was to be his present. I had just finished a round of golf on that Friday when I received a call from Travis Wilson saying that I needed to get to the dealership and put some money down on the 4Runner. I said, I will be there in 15 minutes. When I arrived at the dealership, I had Travis paged. As he approached me he looked a little red faced and concerned. He said "they sold your 4Runner". I said "WHAT"! How could they do that? He said that Stephen Pecha was out that day and another manager who knew nothing about the deal showed the 4Runner which by the way, was getting a lot of attention because of the condition, and sold it. It was a done deal. Now here it is, Friday 5 pm, son will be in town tomorrow, birthday present sold, I'm steamming mad, in comes Jimmy Cline (General Sales Manager) and Chris Cady (General Manager/Partner). They took me in a private room to discuss this unfortunate incident. When all was said and done, Chris Cady made the executive decission to search their 42 dealerships and find me a replacement. He said in the thousands of deals they do, they never ran into an issue like this but Mr. Odom, we are going to make this right. They called me to another office and said, we found your replacement. It was a beautiful 2003 4Runner Limited 4x4, fully loaded, low miles, cream puff. It was located in Deland, Florida. Chris said I am going to fly someone down to FLA. and have this 4Runner here for you when your son arrives. Not only that but I will sell this to you at the same price as the 2001. The next day, my son arrived, we went to the dealership and they had this beautiful silver 4Runner Limited 4x4 waiting on us. This could have and probably 100% would have been a bad deal at any other dealership because they would have let me walk out the door. I have bought many cars in my days and I have never seen such care and concern from so many people. This was something that they did not have to do. This was a choice. A business decision by Mr. Cady. I would recommend this dealership to anyone looking for an honest straight up dealership that's just now out to make money. They want a relationship. So in closing, I want to personally thank MR.Travis Wilson,Mr.Stephen Pecha, Mr.Jimmy Cline and Mr.Chris cady. You are all very professional and my wife and I have decided next year when my BMW lease is up, we are going to Scott Clarks' Toyota for our next car pruchase. I hope to see you all in the near future. Best Regards, Ron E. Odom More
My wife called this dealership looking for a 2011 Black Camry SE with a V6. She got Nate on the phone and when the other Toyota dealerships tried to sell me another color or force something else on me that Camry SE with a V6. She got Nate on the phone and when the other Toyota dealerships tried to sell me another color or force something else on me that I didn't want Nate didn't. He went right to work and said that it would not be a problem to find this car at all. I explained to Nate and Steve how I hated new car shopping not bc of the payment but bc of all the runaround you receive when shopping for a new car. They made it simple. They somehow located the car and kept me updated as to when the car shipped and an eta. The car arrived before the date specified and I was able to pick my car up early. Steve even stayed late (bc of my hectic work schedule) so I could pick my car up the same night. It wasn't as painful as I thought and everyone was so friendly. Thank you, thank you, thank you... Scott Clark Toyota pads the price of nearly every new vehicle by around $1,000 with nitrogen tires, wax job and tint windows - total BS dealer markup fees. So before you even start the negotiation proce vehicle by around $1,000 with nitrogen tires, wax job and tint windows - total BS dealer markup fees. So before you even start the negotiation process you're negotiating from $1000 above sticker price! The rest of the negotiation process is the same old game of the car they're selling you is worth the sticker price and your trade is worth nothing. I've been buying cars for 20 years and nothing has changed other than you can get free wi-fi now and maybe free donuts. Call around to all of the local internet sales people and get your quotes rather than sit and get grinded to exhaustion by the tried and true sales pressure games they still and probably always will play. My wife brought her 2010 Camry to the Scott Clark dealership on 10/1/2010 for an oil change and tire rotation @ 15,000. In addition to this service the following service was performed at a total cost dealership on 10/1/2010 for an oil change and tire rotation @ 15,000. In addition to this service the following service was performed at a total cost of $276.03. Replaced the cabin air filter for a cost of $48. The recommended service at 15,000 says clean the filter. This car has not been driven in extreme conditions and there was no reason to replace the filter A1 misc, what ever that is cost $10.89 Although there was no noted abnormal tire wear all a four wheel alignment was performed and the tires were balanced. The air filter was replaced at a cost of $22.87. This is not on the recommended list for replacement @ 15,000 and the car is not driven in extreme conditions. Tighten nuts and bolts on chasis & body was done. This car is not used for towing and no where is it recommended that this is done at 15,000 miles. Receipt shows that Customer requests FACTORY PLUS 15K MILE SERVICE. This is simply not true. She did not request anything but an oil change and tire rotation. When I talked with the sevice manager, Bobby Dills, he stated that she could have said no and that the extra work performed was "preventive". A good service department would have only done maintenance that was actually needed. Jerry Russell Charlotte, NC More
We went to Scott Clark to buy a new corolla and worked with Frank. He was able to answer all of our numerous questions and took our budget into consideration when showing us the cars. We did not feel pr with Frank. He was able to answer all of our numerous questions and took our budget into consideration when showing us the cars. We did not feel pressured and got the car we wanted for a great deal. Would recommend to anyone, and do yourself a favor and ask for Frank. More
