My salesman, Robert, was amazingly helpful but he can only do so much. I can not say how disappointed I am with the rest of the used car buying experience/service department at Schomp Honda. I bought a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan there on 07/14/2021. Prior to even test driving I asked for and received a copy of their inspection report. Everything looked good and "passed." I test drove the vehicle and it seemed ok and it also came with a 72 hour window to request repairs and a 30 day 1000 mile warranty on the powertrain so I bought it. It had a few chips in the windshield but they agreed to take care of that. Upon driving home the steering wheel shook on the highway from about 65-75 mph. When back in my city, it felt like something was in the rotor and something was loose underneath. It made a grinding noise when going in reverse. I reported this to the salesman and they agreed to tow the car back to inspect it because I did not feel safe driving it. I sent video of the noise from the rotor and the noise it made in reverse to the salesman to be forwarded to the service department. I was told there was a rock in the rotor and a bolt was loose and they fixed it. I asked about the other issues and Robert told me those would be taken care of as well. I asked if he could drive it on the highway to make sure the steering didn't shake anymore and he agreed to do this for me. Robert called me back and advised that he had taken the vehicle on the highway and everything felt great and everything I asked about had been repaired. He offered to hold it at the dealership until the windshield could be replaced on 07/30/2021 so I left it there, assuming everything was fixed. On 07/31/2021 I picked it up at Schomp Honda but upon driving it home I noticed the steering wheel still shook. I thought maybe just the wheel balance and decided it wasn't really worth driving back 45 min just to fix that. The vehicle was sold to me with an open recall so I did not drive it much the next couple of weeks. It had an appointment to get that taken care of at a Dodge Dealership on 08/17/21. However, we did plan to take it on a road trip of about 1000 miles from 08/12/2021-08/15/2021. ) On 08/12/2021 I put it in reverse for the first time since picking it up and it made that noise again. We drove the car to southwest Colorado but on the way there the steering wheel shook violently at 65-75 mph again and especially when braking on the highway. The transmission also shifted really rough, jolting when it switched into higher gears. I texted Robert again to advise him that the vehicle was not fixed and had the same issues it had brought it in for the day after I bought it. I also advised of the transmission issue and that I wasn't at 1000 miles yet, but because we were on a trip it would hit 1000 miles before I got back home. I texted him a picture of the odometer to show that I was reporting the issue before it hit 1000 miles. Robert stated that he and the master technician drove the car together and the steering wheel did not shake. He seemed like he did not believe me. He then texted back that the dealer would not fix the original issues because I did not purchase the extended warranty, even though they were the same issues they agreed to fix during the return period and failed to do so. He also said that powertrain warranty was expiring that day and I needed to bring it in that day but I was 400 miles away. Then the check engine light comes on on our way home. On 08/19/2021 the Dodge dealer found my issues quickly and reported it has filthy, dark and transmission fluid that was low, transmission line leaks, warped front rotors with hot spots, and wheels out of balance. Also the air filter was dirty and needed to be replaced and so did the windshield wiper. All of these components "passed" Schomp's initial inspection. Repairs will total about $1500 for me to make it safe to drive again. More
