Not a pleasant experience Recently, I have receive a half dozen emails from Sarant asking about my experience. My experience at Sarant Cadillac was not a pleasant one. I brou Recently, I have receive a half dozen emails from Sarant asking about my experience. My experience at Sarant Cadillac was not a pleasant one. I brought a 1996 Fleetwood Brougham for service to have a Check Engine (lean fuel mixture) light diagnosed and it was hard to start. (Who better to fix an older Caddy than a dealer?) I was a first time customer. After two days, no one called, so I called and was told that they were still working on it. Two days later, I was told that there was a low fuel pressure problem, that it would need a new fuel pump. I was quoted parts and labor and agreed to the work. The parts would be delivered two days later, so the car would be ready in 2 or 3 days. A day or two after it was supposed to be ready, I dropped by and was told that there was still a fuel pressure issue after the pump installation…that they were still looking into it. The next day (Friday) no one called. I left a message for Joe Mistretta and requested that he call me with the latest status, "good, bad or indifferent", by the end of his day. No one called. On Monday morning, I contacted Sarant and was later told that the car was ready, and that they had installed a new fuel pressure regulator to get it to run properly. I picked the car up that afternoon and received a bill for an amount higher than I agreed to. No one advised that I'd have to pay for the fuel pressure regular. I did not authorize that repair but wanted the car back (it had already been two weeks), running properly, so I paid the full amount. A low fuel pressure problem should not be rocket science for GM Certified technicians to diagnose. There's only a few things in between the fuel tank and the fuel injectors. I believe that my car was "back-burnered", that Sarant did not devote timely attention to my car. Plus, no one called me with any status unless I called first. Nor was I told that I'd have to pay for a new fuel pressure regulator. (Since the new fuel pressure regulator apparently did the trick, I'm guessing the car needed that part, rather than the much more expensive fuel pump installation…but I had to pay for both.)
