So surprised this place is still in business I had an issue with a belt tensioner that caused my belt to come apart and wrapped around the drive pulleys and slapped out my front cover gasket, val I had an issue with a belt tensioner that caused my belt to come apart and wrapped around the drive pulleys and slapped out my front cover gasket, valve cover gasket and wrapped around my cv axle and tore it up, Southern Chevrolet quoted me $1,600 to repair, which I had repaired by Southern Chevrolet Two months later my car started to make a noise. I took my car back to Southern Chevrolet Service, they told me my timing chain was stretched and causing the chain to slap, they recommended a new timing chain, which two months ago when they had the engine apart they never mentioned any problem with the timing chain When I asked if they were going to stand behind any of the previous work, I was asked to leave their property and to take my car somewhere else, which I did and it turned out the new noise was a bad air conditioning compressor and not even the timing chain So needless to say not only did they misdiagnose the problem, they tried to charge me for a repair I didn’t even need. When I asked to talk to they service manager, I was again asked to leave the property and threatened with law enforcement if I did not comply with their request to leave the property I will never do business with Southern Chevrolet and will share my story with anyone thinking of doing business with this shady company More

Hope was our Saleswoman (both times) - she is outstanding, no pressure, very knowledgeable and helpful. Chris was also great to work with - dealing with warranty and protection packages. Chris worked for a few days to get us the price we said we needed - which is not something that I can say about other dealerships we have worked with. The internet gurus said be happy with a particular price- Chris took his time and was able to get even lower. WE have dealt with their service department as well - outstanding and they take the extra time to make sure you are happy. I would highly recommend Southern!! More
Diagnosis of noise under hood WARNING: Do not trust Southern Chevy dealership in Foley, Al.!! I took my car there to "check out" a noise. I was told that the $95 "diagnosis" showed WARNING: Do not trust Southern Chevy dealership in Foley, Al.!! I took my car there to "check out" a noise. I was told that the $95 "diagnosis" showed I had a WORN OUT AC belt & BAD BELT TENSIONER that need to be replaced for $344.77. We agreed, only to be told that didn't fix the problem-so it "might" be the clutch or compressor. We decided to wait until we returned to Illinois, but I asked for the "replaced" parts. They were shocked & said, "no one had ever asked them that before." When we returned home, I took them to the local dealership here & asked them to look at them. The service manager commented that the belt looked brand new-which reminded me that on my previous "pre-trip" check up, they had called to say that everything checked out fine, although there were 2-3 belts that were looking a "little" worn, &, even though they assured me that they would probably make the trip, I opted to have them replaced anyway. When they checked my records, they found that one of the belts they replaced was a NEW AC BELT. This prompted them to then check the tensioner that Southern had replaced, & actually made a video of the test-showing the tensioner was in 100% perfect working condition! When I contacted the service manager at Southerns, I offered to send a copy of their diagnosis, a copy of my receipt & pictures of the NEW belt they CUT OFF, & the video of the test on the tensioner-along with a statement from the service manager that stated that, "if any of his mechanics ever charged a customer for replacing parts like this, they would be signing their last paycheck". I was just given a "run around" with lame excuses, & told he'd "get back to me"-which he never did. I then sent an email that I was told would be printed & given to the owner, but never heard back from him either. Their "pride" in customer service is xx, & definitely cannot be trusted. So if you are ever DUMB enough to go to them for service-you better be SMART enough to ask for your "replaced" parts back! Sent from my iPad More
