⭐☆☆☆☆ 1/5 – Internet Sales Bait-and-Switch / Time-Wasting Tactics I had a deeply frustrating experience with Sands Kia, specifically with Scotty Downes, their Internet Sales Manager. For weeks, Sands K Tactics I had a deeply frustrating experience with Sands Kia, specifically with Scotty Downes, their Internet Sales Manager. For weeks, Sands Kia repeatedly contacted me via email while I was searching for the right vehicle. All communication was email-based, which reasonably led me to believe that pricing and negotiation would also be handled via email — especially since I live several hours away and clearly stated that I only negotiate remotely. Once I identified a vehicle and requested written out-the-door (OTD) pricing, the process suddenly changed. I was told that Sands Kia “only negotiates in person,” despite: • Email-based communication up to that point • Written OTD pricing already being partially provided by email • Clear disclosure that I live hours away The OTD pricing that was sent included thousands of dollars in dealer add-ons (tint, recon fees, etch), which were later described as “clean online pricing.” When I asked for clarification or removal of those add-ons, the rules shifted again, and the conversation was redirected rather than answered directly. What makes this especially concerning is that this came from the Internet Sales Manager — whose role should support transparent, remote buyers, not funnel them into in-person pressure after the fact. This felt like a textbook bait-and-switch: • Email engagement to keep me interested • Changing terms once a specific vehicle was identified • Pressure to come in person despite clearly stated boundaries I ultimately walked away because my time is valuable, and this process did not respect it. If you value transparency, written pricing, and straightforward communication — especially if you are shopping from a distance — be cautious. I would not go through this process again. More
The process was fine. but they really scammed us. We specifically stated the gap we wanted was the basic but they added the most expensive one thereby raising the car pric but they really scammed us.
