This complaint is on the customer service or lack thereof that I received at Salem Ford. This is fairly long but bottom line is that I told the dealership that I wanted to purchase a vehicle and they sold i that I received at Salem Ford. This is fairly long but bottom line is that I told the dealership that I wanted to purchase a vehicle and they sold it out from under me without my knowledge. On Tuesday, July 14, 2020, we drove 4 hours from upstate New York to see a cargo van at another dealership. That wasn’t what we were looking for so we did a Google search and found a Ford Transit 250 at Salem Ford and went there. Spoke to Franklin Colon and he let us take a test drive. He was very friendly and we really liked the van. We left around 3:30pm and after talking about it, we decided to buy the van and called Franklin and told him so and we would drive back to Salem the following Tuesday to purchase the van. We asked if a deposit was required and he said no; we asked if anything else was needed and he said no and that all could be taken care of next Tuesday. He didn’t say anything about securing the deal with a signature but immediately emailed the credit application for me to fill out. On Wednesday, July 15, 2020, I emailed all the requested documentation to Franklin for him to forward to the credit department and he did not reply back confirming receipt as he said he would do. On Thursday, July 16th, I had not heard from Franklin so I called the dealership and spoke to Dave Riordan and he informed me that Franklin was off but for me to email him the application which I did. On Friday, July 17th I did not hear anything and by the time I called, they had already left the office. On Monday, July 20, 2020 I called to make sure that everything was in order because I would be driving 4 hours the next day to pick it up. Franklin was not available nor was Dave but the poor guy that answered the phone informed me that it was already sold over the weekend and the General Manager (Dan) was actively searching for a replacement but he was going to sell what he finds to us for the same price. Apparently, I was supposed to sign something committing to purchase the van but NOBODY ever said that was required. I tried to talk to Franklin but it went to voicemail. Tried to talk to Dan but it went to voicemail. I called a while later and the dealership phone rang 3 times and went to voicemail. (REALLY???? Gotta love caller ID). I called using another phone and they picked up immediately. When I asked to talk to Dan they asked who was calling and it went to voicemail. I cannot believe the lack of professionalism, communication or caring that was shown by this dealership. To not tell me that a signature was required when I committed to spending $27,000 and to then sell it to someone else and not have the decency let me know about it is beyond the pale. I will be buying a Ford Transit 250 Medium Roof 148 WB but I will NOT be buying it from Salem Ford. More

My wife, newborn son and I came to Salem Ford to look at an Expedition. We are very unfamiliar with Fords but were attracted to the vehicle due to its size. We came in and were connected to our salesmen M an Expedition. We are very unfamiliar with Fords but were attracted to the vehicle due to its size. We came in and were connected to our salesmen Matt Pina. Matt first thought we wanted an explorer and started showing us the wrong vehicle. We then found an Expedition we liked, test drove it and absolutely loved it. When we went back into the office Matt seemed very disinterested in selling us a car. He knew nearly nothing about the options, colors, pricing, features. It felt like we were trying to sell him on selling us a car. Later that evening I sent a note to the GM and Sales managers expressing our interest and feedback on our experience. I would have expected a response and willingness to try to put a deal together. Neither of them responded. 48 hours later we purchased a Brand New 2020 Limited Expedition just like the one we drove from another dealer in MA. Salem was great to test drive the vehicle but I'm not sure why they were not interested in selling us a car. With a $75k price tag I would expect a bit more professionalism and a sales person who actually knows something about the vehicles. The experience between dealers was night and day. Unfortunately we are not interested in even having the vehicle serviced with Salem due tot he horrible experience. My advice, use them to test drive but you'll get a better deal and more respect at any of the countless dealers in the area. More
