I arrived about 20 minutes early, they had me drive right into the service waiting area. I was greeted by an gentleman who quickly booked me in, then directed me to a large neat, bright waiting area. Started off good and went to shot real fast. Salesman did not do anything he said he would do. Went to get the 1st inspection here in MA and the car failed. Went to purchase a new 2024 Escape for my wife. Sales Dealer offered to show what was remaining from prior year. Sales person was professional and transparent. We asked to proceed in the process of Sales Dealer offered to show what was remaining from prior year. Sales person was professional and transparent. We asked to proceed in the process of the purchase for the 2023 vehicle. We had yet to settle on the actual purchase price or cost of packages included in the sale. We were told that was all "financing" and the total final price would be stated then. So we authorized the credit check to proceed and verify our credit qualification. As we waited for this process to be completed to determine our purchasing power from the banks. I left to go to the restroom. Upon return there were 3 men standing around my wife sitting down waiting for my return. Apparently upon my exit they tried to have my wife sign papers to take the vehicle off the lot "today". I ask what was going on and an individual that was not our sales rep stated that he was just telling my wife if she went got them 10K right now she can take the SUV off the lot. That purchase of sale would be held back. I ask a simple question and for what price are we purchasing this vehicle? As we have not talked about the price of sale nor any thing else we wanted. The man indicated that we already agreed to the price of purchase and that we signed a commitment already. I indicated to him that those numbers were only rough estimates base on borrowing 40K without reduction of any discounts or incentives that we where told to be included at that time. "Summer time Discount of 2K". Nor our trade-in value for our vehicle. That the "commitment" paper work was ONLY authorization to perform a credit check of 40K. I told the man directly. "I was not about to pay the FULL MSRP price for a year old vehicle without all the features we had wanted". The Ford individual began to insist that we need to pay the indicated price on the credit financing. At which point I read out loud the fine print about what the paper was in fact for and authorized. As it was not a purchase of sale! It became obvious that in my absence that some manager decided to play hard sales while my wife was alone. To entice her to purchase a vehicle at a cost higher than what we should have been paying. Lucky for me she was smarter than him. I can't say much for that "management" person but I will never purchase a vehicle from this dealership. The Sales men that worked with us was professional and fair mined. Whomever this other individual was that tried to gang up on my wife and trick a sale above its actual value should be let go. We went there in good faith and transparency to make a good deal. We both left immediately once we knew we were dealing with an untrustworthy individual. Upon examining the paper work further that was presented to us. The finances for this dealership included "Dealer Fees" in excess of 2K. So much for the discount incentives. That same day we went to another FORD dealer and purchased a brand NEW 2024 Escape that was the price we wanted. More
