My husband and I recently purchased a used VW Golf at Bill Britt and we thought it was important to let others know of our wonderful experience. From the moment we walked into the showroom, we were gree Bill Britt and we thought it was important to let others know of our wonderful experience. From the moment we walked into the showroom, we were greeted in a way that instantly made you feel at home. If you have previously purchased a car then you know the preparation needed before entering a showroom. You know that you are in for an adversarial interaction - you prepare to be bruised by the process of bartering. But, upon entering Bill Britt's showroom, we quickly realized that our preparations were all for naught. We were instantly made to feel at ease, more like we were being invited in out of the cold for coffee by old friends This might be because Jessie, our saleswoman, was the quintessential professional who seemed to genuinely care about us finding the right car. It quickly became a supportive partnership. And, this partnership was further fostered by the economics of the transaction. There are no commissions and the price of the car is the final price of the car; their best price. My husband and I had done our research and we knew that the price of car we purchased was more than competitively priced - it was simply the best price around. We were told that this pricing model was motivated by the fairness principle. Why should someone pay more just because they are not as skillful in negotiating or learned in pricing models as the next customer? And, we agree. We love our car and plan to go back to Bill Britt for all our car purchases in the future. You will not regret it if you choose to do the same. More
My wife was in the market for a new more fuel-efficient car than her current Honda. I’ve always been a fan of Volkswagen products so I recommended we check out the TDI Passat or Jetta. We knew absolutely car than her current Honda. I’ve always been a fan of Volkswagen products so I recommended we check out the TDI Passat or Jetta. We knew absolutely nothing about Bill Britt motors when we drove onto the lot. Frankly we chose to shop there because even though they’re a tad farther from our home than a few other dealerships we didn’t want to be hassled with shopping in a bigger metropolitan Washington DC dealership. Let me tell you this was one of the best flukes ever! We wandered around looking at cars on the lot for a few minutes, not a single sales person came out and attacked us like they were some wild carnivore and we were their prey. When we were ready to test drive, we waltzed into the front desk and had a brief chat with the extremely pleasant receptionist. She promptly sent over salesman John Batt. John asked what we were interested in and what we wanted to drive. He tossed us the keys to the first model we were interested in and said there’s one right out front. We hopped in and were off on our test drive. When we got back to the dealership he had the two other models we wanted to drive lined up ready for us. We drove three cars and then spent some time with John running some numbers, trade values blah blah blah- you know the typically painful part of buying a car. Normally painful to the point that you want to stab your eyes out with that pencil the salesman keeps nervously fumbling with. At Bill Britt this wasn’t in any way shape or form painful…. We were buying a car so I must very cautious about saying this but I have to be honest, it was actually very casual and no pressure……. Ok I’ll say it, it was a pleasant experience…. Honestly! The Missus (who is not nearly as spontaneous as I am) wanted to at least sleep on it. By the time we got home her mind was made up that we would return in a few days and buy from the wonderful folks at Bill Britt. Over the next few days we surprisingly didn’t get a single harassing phone call from John or anyone at the dealership. So we journeyed back 2 days later ready to buy. We knew the model but still had to decide on color and options. Again we got the keys to 4 cars and John walked us out there but he was amazingly no hassle. Like for real no hassle, no pressure and extremely helpful. Once she decided on the “one” the detailing crew took it away and quickly returned it cleaned, waxed, and full of fuel. We signed a few papers with Mark the finance manger-who was also tremendously friendly (to be honest I expected nothing less at this point) and boom! You’re the owner of a brand new Volkswagen. John took us out to the car and made certain we knew how to work every intricate function of the car. So to make a long story short (if you’re still with me), I would absolutely recommend Bill Britt Volkswagen to my friends, relatives and most importantly complete strangers. Oh and by the way I was so pleased with the way everything went I also bought a brand new car and picked it up the next day!!!!!! I look forward to having a long and happy business relationship with the family at Bill Britt! More

He was there to help us but to not interfere with our "quiet time" as we looked for a new car. Another visit to the showroom involved a test drive, then some decisiion-making on our part regarding accessories, etc. Mike continued to be knowledgeable and helpful. Finally, Mike looked around to find the car we wanted, arranged for it to be delivered from another dealership, and we concluded the deal at a price that made us quite happy. All in all, a great experience for us. More
Absolutely OUTSTANDING!!! Historically, the mere Absolutely OUTSTANDING!!! Historically, the mere thought of going through the car buying process would send even the strongest negotiator into a Absolutely OUTSTANDING!!! Historically, the mere thought of going through the car buying process would send even the strongest negotiator into a panic. We’ve all heard the jokes about dealing with attorneys and car salesmen . . . . . well, let me tell you, TIMES HAVE CHANGED and the drum major leading this parade is named BILL BRITT VW – with their #1 champion RICH TIPPEY. My husband and I purchased a 2013 Touareg Lux. Oh my goodness, this vehicle is amazing! I am still giddy – worse than a kid at Christmas. The process was like none I have ever experienced. RICH (and the entire team) are respectful, honest, humble and bright. RICH knows the product and the brand. I made the first visit to the dealership without my husband and at that time I had a good idea what we wanted. RICH greeted me in a manner that was both respectful and truthfully friendly – he put me at ease. He immediately gave me the opportunity to test drive a Touareg that was on the lot. I was sold but did not fully understand the options. This is where it gets good. RICH sat me down and opened his books. He opened the big binder that has all of the pricing, all of the available discounts, every detail that comes into play (MSRP, discounts, processing, interest options, lease options, everything). RICH then walked through the available options (3 models of the Touareg) – what exactly is included with each. We discussed my demands – which options were most important and which ones I was willing to do without (assuming I would not be able to buy the Executive model). We talked price. I loved it. Using the big binder as the reference book – we determined exactly what a vehicle with my chosen options would cost. That was it. RICH entertained my decision making by graciously running various scenarios based on different options – never once (NEVER ONCE) attempting to steer me one way or another. Never once did RICH attempt to make a decision for me. RICH carefully guided me through the options – walking me carefully until I fully understood and was comfortable. He was quite patient with me, to say the least. Once I made the decision on model package and options – RICH continued in his naturally caring and patient manner as he walked through many more scenarios – this time regarding financing. Purchase, lease, purchase, lease – this much down, that much down. I had him run a multitude of different scenarios – and then came back for more. There were many options that would work – and we indeed found the one that was best for my husband and I. So, we had the vehicle picked out and determined the financing – I stepped back and watched RICH and the Bill Britt VW team find my dream car. Calling here and there and here and there and there and here. RICH spent a tremendous amount of time locating the exact vehicle that I wanted. The color, interior, options, (we didn’t want a trailer hitch). His team members helping him all the way. They found it. They found the black Touareg Lux with Saddle leather interior and no trailer hitch – and they grabbed it. The vehicle arrived a week earlier than promised. My husband and I met RICH at the dealership – the paperwork was waiting. Nothing had changed – everything was exactly as we had previously agreed to. Smooth, honest, flawless. RICH’s enthusiasm was the best. We had the absolute best time being trained on the vehicle. The technology in this car is amazing and we could have easily spent a week going over it. I have no doubt in my mind that RICH would have the patience and energy and would do just that if I had requested it. RICH, in case you are reading this THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!! I need to tell you that driving into D.C. this morning (on this gorgeous cloud free glorious day) I was indeed laughing and smiling as I was driving this beautiful machine – testing out all of the options. I am truly humbled by this experience and also humbled by the blessings that have allowed me the opportunity to purchase such a machine. All the best to you and your beautiful family, Laurie and Pete Webb Fredericksburg, VA More
This is the fifth vehicle we have purchased from Bill Britt Mazda over the past 30 years. I don't purchase from them exclusively but, when I do, it is always a very pleasant and easy process. They set Britt Mazda over the past 30 years. I don't purchase from them exclusively but, when I do, it is always a very pleasant and easy process. They set a very fair sale price which is always under what Kelly Blue Book or Edmunds says is a fair price for the vehicle. There is absolutely no pressure to buy and none of this having to negotiate with some sales manager that you don't get to see. The sales staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and I always feel that I am being treated in an honest and straight-forward manner. At other dealerships I always feel that I need to have my guard up during the purchase process. At Britt the purchase is relaxed and enjoyable which it should be when buying such an expensive and important item. I have known Kirk Ross for over 10 years and have purchased from him previously. He has always gone out of his way to get us the exact vehicle that we wanted and I consider him to be my friend as well as my car salesman. Don and Mike are also great guys and were always able and willing to help when Kirk was not available. It is so nice to have a group of salespeople who don't have to compete for a customer but are able to work together for the benefit of the customer. My wife is starting to think about a new car and we will, hopefully, be able to find the vehicle she wants at Britt Mazda. I love the way those folks do business. My experience buying a new 2014 Mazda 6 via Kirk Ross and My experience buying a new 2014 Mazda 6 via Kirk Ross and Co. at Ted Britt Mazda in Fredricksburg, VA can only be described in one word I though My experience buying a new 2014 Mazda 6 via Kirk Ross and Co. at Ted Britt Mazda in Fredricksburg, VA can only be described in one word I thought I would never use for a car dealer...delightful. I attempted to buy my car by going to various dealers myself and using the USAA car buying program. I discovered the Ted Britt dealership through the latter.Through this program, I was contacted by several dealers about potentially buying a Mazda 6 with them. So some here may ask, why would I go car shopping in Fredricksburg when other dealers were much closer? In short they had the Mazda 6 in the color I wanted, but more importantly during my phone conversations with Kirk, he was at all times patient, courteous, knowledgeable, did everything I asked of him, and addressed all of my concerns about buying from a dealer so far away. As an example, I recently moved from NJ, but I needed a car registered and tagged in MD, even though I was not living there yet. He was able to guide me through the process, arrange for the car to be delivered to my current residence once a few accessories are installed, have the MD tags with the car when it will be delivered, and allowed me usage of a free (other than paying for gas) loaner car to use in the meantime. Also to those who do not like haggling, the Ted Britt dealership has "no haggle" pricing which was always below MSRP and a fair price which either matched or bettered all the competing dealerships in DC. He also mentioned a very important note for all possible MD residents: MD emissions are held to the high California standards. All cars, including the one I bought, at Ted Britt had this CA emission package (at no extra cost) so that my shiny new car would not become a garden planter once I moved to MD. In addition to buying a new car, I also traded in my 2000 Chevy Cavalier, which was my first car. Due to the car's good condition and relatively low mileage, I was given a trade-in price that was $300 over KBB which was more than I expected. Thanks to this trade and excellent price on my new car, I was able to keep the price of the car over $1,000 under my $25,000 budget (including all fees, taxes, etc). However, all was not prefect. At no fault of Kirk or the Ted Britt dealer team, we attempted to find whether non-USAA lenders could provide a better loan rate to finance the new car. After submitting the financing information at the dealer and waiting well over an hour, none of the lenders responded in a timely manner. So Kirk at this point moved the deal forward using the original financing I had from USAA given that such a long pause from the lenders likely meant none of the them could not beat USAA's rate. The only other downside was what I called Mazda "legal material". Kirk had to go through in exhausting detail all the warranty info, car warning lights, etc, and the rather lengthy users' manual. Due to Mazda's requirements, this who effort took another hour, although I will give kudos to Kirk for inserting humor to make this dry subject much more bearable. Overall, I will strongly recommend Kirk and the Ted Britt dealership to anyone I know or anyone reading this review if you want no haggling, courtesy, and good prices for you new car. More
