Worst new car buying experience ever. Beginning with a sales person who didn't identify himself by name, this has been in all aspects regretful. We were however eventually shown a Optima w Beginning with a sales person who didn't identify himself by name, this has been in all aspects regretful. We were however eventually shown a Optima we liked, and after a test drive we decided to negotiate the purchase. At the conclusion of the deal, I explained I would secure funds through my credit union, and that I would call the following morning to arrange for faxing the purchase order. I began calling at 0900 and was unable to get a response until 0930, when our salesman advised he would have the sales manger fax the document. Calling shortly afterwards I left voice mail message indicating I was with the loan officer awaiting his transmittal. When I called back at 1015 the sales manager told me that he was a slow typist, having difficulty completing it ( administrative assistants are an obvious luxury). After calling several more times in frustration the fax finally arrived about 1300. This in itself should have been a red flag, but instead I made a final call informing the salesman we would be onsite the following morning at 0900 prepared to close the deal; he showed up at 0945. While I would have expected a reasonably efficient dealership to anticipate a customers arrival with vehicle detailed and ready to go, it was not. We were given numerous excuses why this was the case but none were of any consequence. By the way during this waiting period the sales manager never had the decency to meet with us to apologize for the lengthy delay I was subjected to the day before. When the finance manager finally sat down with us he addressed us as if we were teenagers buying our first car; for the record I have purchased more than a dozen new vehicles. His pep talk was unnecessary and annoying, especially after sitting uncomfortably for the past 3 plus hours. When he began to explain how the credit union would hold responsibility for issuance of tags, I asked if he knew this was a trade in; he did not. When he continued I detected more negativity in his delivery than anything positive. This is when I began to retort his claims only to have him simultaneously debate my remarks. I suppose in retrospect holding my finger to my lips to shush was not my best choice. However with that he bristled loudly, " this is my house, I'm a grown man and nobody's gonna shush me in my house...I'm a grown man". I apologized for the gesture, but couldn't help to wonder if this was appropriate behavior for a financial professional. Regardless when the dust settled we concluded the transaction 4 1/2 hours after our prearranged arrival. In addition to everything experienced so far, we learned that the figures sent to the credit union were excessive to those on the final invoice; a matter of around $52. We were told the difference would be mailed, which hasn't arrived to date. To this regard I emailed the sales person asking for an update on the check, he has not responded yet. As if this would be enough, there is one last issue. When we registered the new vehicle, the DMV representative advised we were double charged for the registration fee, which was just another indicator of the overall lack of efficiency we found at Safford Kia of Fredericksburg. Final note: This is our sixth new Kia. More
