Safford Hyundai ruined my new car (Sonata Hybrid) purchased from them in Nov 2018. On the very first service (Jan ’19), the oil drain pin was not secured properly resulting in a blown engine. It to purchased from them in Nov 2018. On the very first service (Jan ’19), the oil drain pin was not secured properly resulting in a blown engine. It took from Apr 1 to May 7 ’19 to replace the engine and other damaged components. Fast forward to Jan 18, 2020 – again while driving at speed - the idler pully bolt shears off, & damages the idler pully, timing chain, timing chain housing, and who truly knows what else. Expert mechanics I have consulted indicate the idler pully would have been removed and replaced when the engine was replaced – and is likely collateral damage following the engine replacement. This repair is now estimated for completion in “March” due to backordered parts shipping from Korea. I acknowledge that repairs are being made at the dealers’ cost, however requests for alternate solutions to the Service Manager have fallen on deaf ears, with no options presented. I actually find it surprising that the extensive repairs at dealer expense is the best financial solution for them and would have hoped for any outside the box possible solutions or alternatives. FYI to persons considering the loaner car level service package - This dealership does NOT directly provide loaner cars, however has an agreement in place with Enterprise. This wasn’t known to me until I arrived for my ‘fatal first service’. This rental car process is cumbersome and at times slow (time consuming) when I actually thought I was purchasing a direct dealer loaner package. While I am currently in a rental vehicle through this package I purchased, my service advisor has made it clear that the rental would otherwise be provide at a discount rate of $5 per day, or $160 for the 32 days out of service through today while they repair the car again. I’m completely disheartened, and worse than the damages - my faith in this vehicle, after twice now being stranded on the side of the road with my family, will never be able to be restored. When I am able to drive my own car again in the future - it will be clouded with fear of mechanical breakdown. I simply cannot trust this car, and will likely sell it third party and go elsewhere as soon as I am able. This has shattered my faith in this dealership, and Hyundai, forever. I don’t like making negative reviews, however I feel my experience should be known to others in case anything should go wrong with their service experience on a new car. This is likely how they will handle it. Leaving this review is the only recourse available to me, as the car cannot be legally declared a lemon because its dealer caused negligence, and there are no ‘damages’ to me, beyond approximately $700 in towing and uber rides out of pocket, because they are repairing the car at their own expense. Safford could have had a long time Hyundai customer, however due to this experience I, and anyone I share this story, will not likely ever utilize this dealership in the future. I will however, intentionally end this with the only positive note of my experience with Safford Hyundai. The sales process, and my sales agent Bishnu, were problem free and quite enjoyable. That, and I actually truly liked the car. It WAS fun to drive. :( More

Service was great and thorough. Wish I had been given a notice for time for check up instead of relying on me to remember. I have a sticker in window to remind me next time. Wait time was good.
