Inept Finance Department If you live in Prince William County or any other county that requires an emissions test, I would not recommend buying a car from this dealership. Three weeks after purchasing a vehicle, I receive a phone call from JC in their finance department telling me he never received my down payment for the vehicle I purchased. I distinctly remember giving him my credit card and him having it for quite a while. He even left the office for an extended period of time, which made me think he must have ran my credit card at some point. I checked my credit card statement while on the phone with him, and come to find out he never he even ran the card. It’s amazing that the company was willing to let someone leave the dealership with paying a sizable down payment. After I checked my statement, I immediately gave him the credit card information so he could process the payment. I was very cooperative, as I'm sure other people in my situation would have probably played hardball at that point. I also asked JC as to when my permanent tags would be ready as I had not received them yet, and it had been 3 weeks. Fifteen minutes later, JC called me back again and told me that they never ran an emissions test on the vehicle and that I now had to get one done before I could get my tags. With less than a week to spare on my temporary tag, and being out of town that last week, there was nothing I could do. JC said to me “ Yeah I guess I forgot to tell you to do that.” Thanks JC, I appreciate that. This meant that I had to get the vehicle back home to quickly an emissions test done so we could get the permanent tags as soon as possible before the temporary ones expire. I was under the impression that all dealerships had to run an emissions test on their vehicles, but apparently that is only the case for certain counties in Virginia. My sales rep Bob called me later that evening and said the dealership does not run emissions tests on used vehicles because it is not required in Fauquier County. Regardless, anybody who lives in a county such as Prince William, Fairfax, Arlington or Loudoun Counties should probably not buy from this dealership as they do not run emissions test on used vehicles, according to my sales rep Bob. For all you know, there could be something severely wrong with the vehicle’s emissions output and you nor the dealership would know. You would think that this is something that would be checked on regardless of whether it is required in the county or not. I even emailed the General Manager Kevin Myers at Safford Warrenton about his Finance Manager JC’s inability to run the down payment for 3 weeks as well as not telling me that I had to get an emissions test done until a week before my temporary tags expired. I never received an email response nor a phone call back. I guess it was not a priority of his that his Finance Manager forgets to run down payments and fails to tell his customers that they are responsible for obtaining the emissions test and not the dealership. Bob was a great sales rep and the vehicle I purchased was excellent, but my experience with the Finance department was abhorrent and the GM’s lack of care about the situation is a bit unsettling. He is more of then a salesman he is a vehicle mentor and friend every time we are at the dealership. My husband has recommended him to every person he knows that has a Ram. Today we bought a used vehicle while our Ram was being serviced. Ray provides us a sense of truthfulness and assurance every single time. As a military family we have lived in four states and visited multiple Dodge dealerships and this is by far the best one yet. We drive an hour each way for this exceptional service. More

Everyone from the General Manager of Sales (Tony), to my Internet Sales rep (Lauran), my sales rep (Lori), Jeff and a host of others...were attentive both during our email inquiries and the actual day of our purchase. Even though this dealership didn't specialize in GMC vehicles, there were members of the team that possessed a wealth of knowledge of the 2012 Yukon Denali XL. I received a price that I could live with and a buying experience that made the 2-3 hours spent in the dealership worthwhile. Oh! They even beat my pre-approved loan rate by more than .75%! So, glad we made the decision to purchase from this dealership! :0) More

This delay in decision making is often met with aggressive sales tactics, but we experienced quite the opposite from Safford-specifically Lori. She respected our journey of due diligence and was incredibly helpful as we moved forward. The managers Tony and Brendan were awesome to work with too! Hi personality-low pressure. They actually believed that we were intelligent enough to make our own decisions about the purchase and provided honest talk-not pushy tactics. JC in the finance department was incredibly easy to work with too! He made navigating the aftermarket services and finance pain free. Everyone we encountered was sincerely willing to assist us and went out of their way to make the process low stress, informative and worry free. I would absolutely recommend Safford if you are in the market for any brand they sell. It should prove to be a refreshing experience as it relates to car buying. More

Friendly and Honest Using the USAA buying service, I received quotes from three different Dodge dealerships for a 2014 Ram 1500 Crew Cab. I went to each dealership in order of quoted price. Safford was my last stop. I was met by Tony Nardelli who turned me over to Bill Hildebrandt. Bill and Tony were true gentlemen. I came prepared with a spreadsheet with specific VINs, installed options, MSRP, and discounts from each of the three dealerships. I was prepared with information from my own research, and with information gathered through talking to the other two dealerships. Bill took the time to listen to what I was looking for and without knowing how much research I had done before coming in pointed me to a truck that matched my preferences the best. When it came time to finalize on the price, Tony printed out a sheet that showed the USAA bargained price which included multiple discounts and compared it to the invoice price. Everything was out in the open and there were no surprises. While it wasn't the lowest price of the three dealers, it was the most honest price and experience. In comparison, one of the other salesman from a different dealership tried to sell me a comparable truck for $2000 higher than what it was listed for on their own internet site. I told Tony before I made the purchase, it's not all about the price. Who you buy from is equally important. Tony validated my opinion of him when it was discovered that the truck had an additional feature that was not originally listed on the window sticker. Tony said, he would honor the price he quoted rather than marking it up to include it. When the finance manager tried to add it back into the price while going through the paperwork, Tony corrected him and removed it. I heard the finance manager say under his breath, "I guess we're giving trucks away today." The culture at Safford seems to be focused more on customer satisfaction through trust, honesty, and integrity. They've earned my trust, and I'll be returning for my maintenance services and will make it my first stop on future vehicle purchases. On a final note, two days after my purchase, I received in the mail a hand written note from Bill, on a very nice card, thanking me for purchasing the truck from him. Two days after that, Bill sent me a gift card to a local restaurant. For some reason, he is not listed on the sales staff on this site, but I believe he's been working there for over 17 years. As I said before, he is a true gentleman and I give him and Tony my highest recommendation. More
