I made an appointment at 7:30am which made little sense since the mechanics don’t come in until 8;00am. Also, it would be nice just to have a quick vacuum job to clean up the floorboards. since the mechanics don’t come in until 8;00am. I had my first opportunity to use the warranty 2 months after purchase. I closed the driver’s side air vent. The next day I opened the same vent and no air was coming out. I also noticed a persistent squeak from the right front wheel that was only heard at low speeds. I called service and made an appointment for service. The air vent was evaluated by the service manager when I arrived. He said, “yep, it’s broke”. The manager completed the service ticket, where he stated the company policy “there is a $219 diagnostic/inspection fee.” I said “I have the 3-month Chrysler warranty”. He made no response/reply. I was called to be told the car was ready and the charge is $368. I said ok and figured I would address the charge with the sales rep that told me I had a bumper/bumper warranty. I arrived to pick up the car and went directly to the sales rep and asked about the warranty and the $368 fee. The sales rep said let’s go talk to the service manager. The manager said the “rod to the vent door popped off and we reconnected it”. I asked is the rod designed to pop off. The manager said “no, but it was not broke, the tech just popped it back on”. Not an acceptable answer in my opinion. Then I asked about why am I being charged. The manager said “the warranty only covers the repairs if there is a broken part. The air vent is not broken and the squeak was caused by an excessive buildup of break dust on the rotor, it was not broke.” My sales rep went to bat for me with the sales manager and came back with nothing but a $70 discount of the $368 service cost. Once again, a car dealer that does a bait and switch. I guess I should not be surprised. More
