I never got to the point of visiting the dealership. I'll say up front that the young man I was dealing with on the phone was very polite. We initially spoke on the phone and confirmed what car I was interes say up front that the young man I was dealing with on the phone was very polite. We initially spoke on the phone and confirmed what car I was interested in. I mentioned that I had a quote from another dealer for invoice. My rep went to his manager and called me back saying that they could sell the car for about 600 over invoice. When I mentioned that the price was too high, the salesman asked me what I would like to pay. I told him my number (the invoice amount) and he went to his manager again. He calls me back and says they'll do my price then proceeds to say that they'll tack on taxes, tags, dealer processing (ok so far), then he says freight. Freight was included in the original price quote of 600 over invoice. So in short, they countered my offer with a response of $150 over their first offer to me (freight is $750)! I don't mind if they weren't willing to go as low as my offer, but I don't like game playing and trying to make it sound like they've accepted my offer when in fact they haven't. Deceptive negotiation is the reason for my rating. I'm disappointed as I've purchased three new cars and a used car from different Brown's dealerships and have always had pleasant experiences. Browns has lost my purchase this time. More
