I was pre-qualified through my bank and everything went great with the transaction. It was when I got home with the car when the nightmare started. I checked the car over before and after the test drive. I knew it would need rear brakes soon, they looked worn quite a bit from what I could tell without taking the wheels off. I found out how worn they were when I got home that evening. After driving the car only 200 miles I started hearing a grinding sound when I applied the brakes. The next morning I checked the front and rear brakes. The rears were actually worn down to the metal. Not only bad business, but dangerous! I drove my kids in the car the previous day, not good. I replaced the brakes myself rather than going back to have SC Motors touch the car. They claim the car went through a safety test. That was obviously a lie. I did not want them working on the car if they missed something so obvious. After getting the brakes sorted out and driving another 300 miles, the engine started bucking and surging so much that the car shook. The car went into drivetrain malfunction mode and the check engine light came on. I limped home in the car and checked the drivetrain codes. Misfires on several cylinders. I tested the coils and checked the plugs and found that six of the coils were bad and four spark plugs were loose. The spark plugs were also gapped too wide. I notified SC Motors and they told me to bring the car in for a check. The car would not make the 35 mile trip and I was not about to let them touch the car. I purchased eight new coils and spark plugs for about $400 and did the change myself. So far it runs great but keeping my fingers crossed. The new car joy is gone and it's only one week after the purchase. Little things like a dead remote battery, empty windshield washer reservoir and unbalanced front tires (didn't feel on test drive due to concrete slab highway) just add to the disappointment. I keep thinking the engine is going to start shaking and misfiring again. I would not recommend purchasing a vehicle from SC Motors. Update: Both rear wheels are bent and both front tires are out of round. My car is not safe to drive. Do not buy a car from SC Motors. Unsafe vehicles. So far my 2014 BMW has cost over $1000 to be driveable after buying from them. Metal to metal brakes, bad coils and plugs. Now add two rear wheels and tires. Over $2000 to make road worthy. More
Sold Me a Lemon Car I was sold a lemon car (undisclosed frame damage) which I don’t appreciate. But the staff were generally friendly, which was nice.
