Service manager who had numerous reasons for the paint peeling cause, none of which were creditable. i.e. peeling area had been repainted, Driver damage caused paint to peel, etc. In short just a lot of "Flim Flam". Paint peeling is clearly a factory defect that Toyota will not warranty. The reason it happens is Toyota was switching over to more environmentally friendly paints, paints with fewer volatile organic compounds. The problem was, they didn't really know what they were doing with the new paints, and some of the paint jobs failed Thus the real reason for paint peeling on some parts of the car. "The Luther Disadvantage" What the Hecker! I own a 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser. A Luther Toyota service writer quoted $60 to program a new OEM Toyota remote and cut an additional key. He estimated I own a 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser. A Luther Toyota service writer quoted $60 to program a new OEM Toyota remote and cut an additional key. He estimated 30 min or so to complete the job. When I showed up 30 min later, the same service writer who gave the quote said he made a mistake and it would be an additional $30-35 to cut the key. I agreed because I wanted to get the work done and get to a business appointment. After waiting on site almost 2 hours with no update, I went to the service dept to find out the status and was told they knew nothing about my land cruiser. The service writer who signed me in had left for the day and forgot to log out of his computer, so other service writers couldn't see my service ticket. They stated that they could not program a new remote because of an antenna code in my computer. The tech came out and explains to me and the service writer that it could be many hours of repair in order to program an additional remote. I advised that I was going to go to Walser Toyota and was not happy after waiting over 2 hours with no communication and no additional remote programmed. I went to Walser Toyota Bloomington after leaving Luther Toyota. In 45 min I left Walser Toyota with my new remote programmed, working correctly. There were no codes in my computer preventing programming. The Walser service tech had no troubles and everything programmed exactly as it was supposed to. CLEARLY THE LUTHER TOYOTA TECH IS INCOMPETENT AND UNPROFESSIONAL. If I went to a GM dealer requesting to repair my Toyota, I would expect them not to know how to do the fix. But if I go to a Toyota OEM dealer, I expect them to know how to work on a Toyota Land Cruiser. That evening, I decided to call the service manager of Luther Toyota to let him know what happened. He verified the sequence of events and explained he would get back to me that Saturday to discuss after doing more research. He never returned my call. Moral of the story: IF YOU OWN A TOYOTA, WANT IT FIXED CORRECTLY, DON'T WANT TO BE SWINDLED AND LIED TO IN ORDER TO GET MORE $ OUT IF YOU, THEN DO NOT DO SERVICE WORK AT LUTHER TOYOTA. WALSER TOYOTA IS PROFESSIONAL & MUCH MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE THAN LUTHER TOYOTA. More

I walk in thinking I am spending $60-70 and today it became that plus $426. It's good if they tell you something needs attention, but this is the 4th time.... really every time I have come for an oil change and end up being told something needs expensive service. They are not looking out for their customers, but rather fattening their pocket books. They say the first time something happens its is a "happening," the second time it is the beginning of a pattern, and the 3rd time it is a silent contract. More

Genuine Caring Salesperson It was happenstance that I met Eric Swenson last Wed night. I was waiting to hear the results of the diagnostic test on my '97 Rav when Eric walked by and asked about the sling I was wearing. We got to chatting and when the conversation turned to cars any my love for my Rav he, in a concerned way talked with my about the safety of my SUV. I had not thought about my car having only two airbags but I had known it was top heavy which isn't safe in strong wind conditions. I found myself sitting in a 2015 Rav and told Eric it was too big for my needs now. Then he took me for a ride in a 2011 after showing me that it was most like the 97 in size. The point is, he showed such understanding and empathy about my dilemma whether I keep fixing my Rav or buy a different car. In the end I decided to fix my Rav one more time which gives me time to look seriously for a different car. Looking back on the situation I was so impressed with Eric and how at no time did I feel pressure ~ ~ all I felt is his concern for me to find a solution and for my safety. He is an excellent salesperson and I would seek him out to help me with my next purchase. More
Kowledgeable and honest service My relationship with Rudy Luther Toyota at Golden Valley started in year 2000 immediately after I moved family to Minnesota. I am the only owner. My cars have been serviced at this location since then. Jeremy is my favorite service guy. He is very knowledgeable about my cars. He always double check my service records to make sure there is no unnecessary service items. His service is prompt. His quote is very reasonable and made you smile. He also made a list of items need to be attended to in the future so I can plan financially and save time. His peer Duane offers to assist me when Jeremy is occupied. That is team work. I just love those guys. I just purchased a Corolla this weekend. I absolutely will ask Jeremy and Duane to service my 3rd car. More
I bought my 2012 Camry at Rudy Luther Toyota in April of 2012. Today (3-7-14) I brought it back to this dealer to have them check a malfunctioning seat belt. The car has only 19,529 miles on it. The problem 2012. Today (3-7-14) I brought it back to this dealer to have them check a malfunctioning seat belt. The car has only 19,529 miles on it. The problem with the seat belt is that it intermittently won't pull out. The "advisor", Matthew tried to pull the seat belt out, and since it failed the first time he tried it, he tried it again, turning it to a different angle. This second time it worked fine. He tried to convince me that changing the angle of it made a difference. It should pull out EVERY TIME at any angle! He’s an idiot! Even though he proved that it will fail to pull out, he refused to fix the problem for me. He said Toyota wouldn’t approve the repair. Then they should have fixed it at the expense of the dealer! What if I had an accident and my passenger was injured because he/she couldn’t pull the seat belt out? He said that Toyota would have no liability because my passenger could sit somewhere else where there is a working seat belt. What a MORON! I bought a 5 passenger car, not a 4 passenger. I wonder how he would like telling his passenger to sit somewhere else because that seat belt doesn’t work right. I won’t trust this dealership to service my car anymore, knowing that they employ idiots to work in the service department! More
