Warranty is a scam Few months ago I purchased a 2015 Toyota Venza from Rudy Luther Toyota. The car was sold as a Toyota certified vehicle with a 1 year bumper to bumper Few months ago I purchased a 2015 Toyota Venza from Rudy Luther Toyota. The car was sold as a Toyota certified vehicle with a 1 year bumper to bumper warranty. Yesterday I took the car in for the 30k schedule maintenance and to deal with two issues: a fog light that was filling with water during rain or at carwash and the passenger window that got stuck open. Upon inspection the fog light was denied being replaced under warranty. For the window issue the fix was to replace the window run ( the plastic molding that guides the glass window up and down ) and the window regulator ( the metal mechanism that moves the window glass up and down ). This work was also denied as being under warranty and the total bill was listed at over $1000. I denied the work for both fog light and window and when picking up the car I spoke with the service manager asking for more details about what the warranty covers. The denial for fog light was not explained at all saying that it was not covered even though the fog light was not cracked and there were not signs of it being damaged on the outside so the issue must have been behind the bumper. The interesting part came regarding the window issue. I was told that the window run ( the plastic molding ) was bent and that damaged the window regulator ( the metal mechanism ). Since the behavior it was that the broken window regulator forced the window at the angle that would stop the electric motor and window would retract ( when moving up and down the window glass was tilted to one side compared to the working window ) in my opinion it makes more sense that the broken metal window regulator that moves the window glass bent the plastic molding vs a plastic molding that only guides the window glass bent the metal mechanism . When asked about this the service manager said that this was a gray area of the warranty. Based on my experience I would not recommend purchasing a used car with any warranty from Rudy Luther Toyota and in general if you prefer to avoid any gray areas when servicing your car I would look somewhere else. More
