We went to Route 22 Honda on February 13th to turn in a lease on a Honda Element that was coming due on February 19th. We leased another Element the same day, drove the new car home leaving behind the old lease on a Honda Element that was coming due on February 19th. We leased another Element the same day, drove the new car home leaving behind the old lease and left the dealership believing everything was in order. The lease agreement on the old car was with Wells Fargo and not Honda Finance. We had never had a lease with anyone other than Honda Finance before and we were not aware that the car should have been turned in directly Wells Fargo until they contacted us at the end of February wanting to know when we would be returning the car. When we informed them we had turned it in to the dealership, they told us we needed to send it to them. They notified us that the dealership had never contacted them and at that point, Wells Fargo wanted to charge us $100.00 to pick the car up from the dealer. We contacted the dealership and after some complaining on our side, they agreed to handle the return of the car to Wells Fargo. Initially they implied that they were under no obligation to turn the car over and went as far as asking us to drive it to Wells Fargo ourselves, however we had already turned in the old plates and would not have been insured. April 1st rolls around and we get a final bill from Wells Fargo that charges us $500.00 in late fees for the lease. We went to the dealership on April 4th and asked them to cover the late charges, as we had technically turned the car in a week early. They promised to cut us a check for the late fees by the end of the week. We call at the end of the week and they ask us to wait until the 11th. On the 11th, they say we’ll have it by the 15th. On the 15th, we call and call and no one returns our phone call because they were “too busy”. On the 18th, I go down to the dealership and complain in person. They promise to cut the check the next day. On the 19th, I go down to the dealership again and wait until the check was signed and ready for me. No one at the dealership ever told us that the car should have gone to Wells Fargo. Had they thought to do so, we would have handled it. No one at the dealership questioned why this lease was sitting in their lot for more than a month. It took them more than two weeks to issue the $500.00 check even after admitting their mistake. They did apologize for the “inconvenience”, however the damage is done. We would never use this dealership again and urge others to buy their Hondas somewhere else. More

Then a friend recommended us to Route 22 Honda in Hill one dealer for over 13 years. We always thought that we were getting good service from them. Then a friend recommended us to Route 22 Honda in Hillside stating that they had a very good sales experience there. So when I wanted to return my lease, we went over to Route 22 Honda and met up with Luis Cadena to see what they could offer. Luis greeted me and my son upon arrival and showed us a few cars but since I knew what I wanted (being a Civic owner since '97), Luis went straight to the heart of working on the deal. Luis was very straight forward and worked hard on giving me a few car setups with great pricing options, laying out quite a few different ways that I could go. In the end, Luis got me a better deal than I ever received from the previous Honda dealer and gained my trust to return to him for any future car service/purchases as well. I was also impressed with Luis's follow up with me after the sale to ensure that I was happy and satisfied with the vehicle purchase (both personally and via email) along with the rest of the Sales/Finace team's follow up. I have no doubt that I will be returning to Route 22 Honda in the future for my next Honda purchases as well. I will also recomend all my friends and family to purchase a Honda from Route 22 Honda. I bought 2010 Honda CRV from Route 22 Honda dealership. I got deal for average market price. But I was cheated by Honda Finance Person. They offered me Honda Care and Honda Gap coverage, that I bought, but t got deal for average market price. But I was cheated by Honda Finance Person. They offered me Honda Care and Honda Gap coverage, that I bought, but they didn't revealed the exact cost of coverage directly. They included Disablity and premium life insurance worth $1500 to my plan, without my conset. I am trying to remove insurance and other honda care, gap plans from many months, but they keep me following up and not helping. Also they sold me LOJack security device for $700 and I just came to know after one year that It's even not installed in my car. They are not willing to refund my money. I am planning to file lawsuit against this dealership. Advise: don't go to this dealership. go to other honda dealerships in NJ. More

Luis was extremely professional and courteous. He was honest and fair. I respected the way he conducted himself and really enjoyed working with him. I would recomend anyone interested in a Honda not only to Route 22 Honda but to buy from Mohammed. He made buying a new honda seem like I was joining a family and after driving my 2011 Fit Sport for 600 miles I am in live with driving, again. After buying the car I found out it was the number 1 selling car in Japan last year. This should be all over the dealership.
