While in general, we try to be as competitive as possible in pricing our parts and services with other local facilities, there will be times where we may be higher. When servicing your Honda vehicle, bear in mind that the difference between servicing at a Honda facility versus a generic service center is that all the technicians are fully Honda certified to work on your vehicle. They always have access to the specialized tools and equipment best suited to diagnose and repair Honda vehicles. It is true that having some of your routine work done at competing service centers like Pep Boys or Strauss Auto can save you some money, and they generally employ good all-around technicians, they may be unable to handle some of the more Honda-specific items. At our facility, we also guarantee all work according to Honda's policies. Most third party facilities only offer a limited warranty on the work they perform. Sometimes we have to be a touch more expensive - but that expense, spread over many service visits and customers, helps us to pay for the training and tools necessary to make our Honda technicians top-notch and the best at what they do. Our management team has referred the contents of this review to our Customer Relations Manager, who did an investigation into the circumstances of the sale. First of all, our client was fully informed by our sales and financial service staff of what the obligations were, and in no way was pressured to sign. We have been in the process of trying to resolve the specific situation this client has gotten into. While our financial services team has the ability to try to re-work deals through refinancing and other means, in order to accommodate a change in a customer's financial position, the relative "new-ness" of the deal made it almost impossible. We certainly understand and feel for customers who get very excited to be making a vehicle purchase, or ordering accessories and warranties to protect their investment in a new vehicle, and then come to find out the expense wasn't what they had considered at the start. BEFORE YOU SIGN a deal, you should really think hard about everything you're buying and whether it falls inside your budget to purchase. No one will be offended or pressure you here, if you decide you can't afford a specific upgrade, accessory, or coverage plan. Sadly, once a deal is done and the paperwork begins its travels to a leasing company, financial institution, etc. commitments have been made and are expected to be upheld. This makes it a lot harder to "undo" what's begun. We're sorry that we can't always make a case of buyer's remorse right. But be assured that when you buy from Route 22 Honda, your rights and options are clearly stated and reviewed. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to try to earn your business. @Jimmy, you are absolutely right! We train our representatives to listen to our customers' situation and try to understand it fully without making judgments concerning the services you are asking us to provide. While there may be rules set by Honda concerning to what extent our franchise is allowed to sell vehicles outside of our area, it is not my impression that as a dealership, our policy is never to accept deals from places as distant as Denver, CO. Quite the opposite is usually the case, especially if the vehicle we have on hand is a harder to obtain model. We typically entertain inquiries from all over the country. And, as long as any special requests are documented as part of the car deal, we can arrange transportation through reputable and bonded vehicle delivery companies. Customers are also encouraged to shop around and possibly select a delivery company that suits them. The only place where any out-of-state transaction may get into legal issue is the actual signing of original copies of sale paperwork. Regulations in New Jersey may be a little stricter than in other places as to what we must provide and how we provide it, to be compliant with the Division of Banking and Insurance and NJ Motor Vehicle Services, who issues our dealer license to operate. We are in the process of re-training all of our representatives to do a better job of listening to all of our customers' needs and requests, and our management team is prepared to follow up on anything specific.
