Pushy! To many people involved and tried to push a vehicle on us that we didn't want to buy just so they could get them off their lot... We have purchased all our vehicles here over the years, but wi vehicle on us that we didn't want to buy just so they could get them off their lot... We have purchased all our vehicles here over the years, but will not ever be back!! . Went to another dealership the following day and had the BEST experience ever!!! Tonkin is NOT what they used to be, very sad how a once awesome place can be so disappointing. More
On 7 September 2013 my 2003 Corolla engine overheated I goggled Toyota dealerships and made an appointment and was able to drive to Ron Tonkin's location the next day. The service manager recommended I do not spend any more money on the vehicle due to the amount of damage to the engine. I took their word for it and was somewhat stranded since I live in Rockaway Beach, OR 95 miles away. A friendly sales representative assisted me in looking for a used replacement. We selected a Subaru Outback on their lot. It was not a preferred vehicle but the salesman assured me that Toyota stands by all their vehicles and that has been my experience so I bought the vehicle and was on my way. The minute I got on the freeway we realized that the wind whistling was unbearable and got out of the car to adjust the window in hopes of fixing it. While outside we noticed the front passenger door lock had a pin hole instead of a key hole. I called the dealership to report the findings and texted the information to the salesman but I got no return call. I returned to the dealership two days later and it was implied that we must have been responsible for the door lock because Toyota wouldn't sell it in that condition. Next the Used Car Manager took the car out for a test drive and on his return he stated" there is a definite air leak but he was able to adjust the window to prevent the noise." The man treated me as though I was complete idiot. I was suppose to drive and stop until I fix the wind noise. I have not been so disappointed in any dealership to this extent before. I have scheduled an appointment with Subaru and I'm moving on with my life. I sure no action will be taken by this dealership to make amends. Thanks Jim Mayo 703-408-6994 More
Contacted Mr. Lemons via internet for a Prius C. Came to an agreement. Called all the other dealerships that I was working with because I found the deal I wanted. Canceled my G/F's birthday dinner so that an agreement. Called all the other dealerships that I was working with because I found the deal I wanted. Canceled my G/F's birthday dinner so that she could come get her new car. 10 minutes before we were to leave I get an email from Mr. Lemons changing our deal by 2000 dollars!!! I will never deal with Tonkin Toyota again. Thank you for wasting my time!! More
I made an appointment for Saturday morning, arrived ten minutes early, walked into the service office where four Service Representatives were behind the counter. No customers were standing infront of the minutes early, walked into the service office where four Service Representatives were behind the counter. No customers were standing infront of the service counter. None of the four were on the phone with customers. None were currently working on their computers infront of them. Two of the four were talking about the differences with, and features of their cell phones. One Service Representative had her cell phone flipped open and was possibly texting by the looks of her typing on the keys of the cell phone. The fourth Service Representative was looking at a paper. After standing infront of the service counter for over a minute without being acknowledged by any of the four Service Representatives I asked, "Which one of you is available?" One of the two Service Representatives that were talking about their cell phone features looked up and said, "We're all available." The Service Representative looking at a paper, set it down and asked if he could help. I told him that I had an appointment for 8:00am. He looked up the appointment and turned to the Service Rep next to him and said to her, "Your appointment is here." The Service Rep who was still looking at her and typing on the keys of her cell phone looked up and said, "My eyes just won't focus this morning." Two other customers walked into the Service Center separately during the 45 minutes I was there and the Service Team did not acknowledge either of them while they stood infront of the Service Counter. Each of those customers had to ask for help also. After the Service Rep that I had an appointment with inspected my car with a mechanic, she came back to the Service Center and told me that she and the Serviceman on duty did not see anything wrong with the seal on my car door, but that they would order the part and replace it. She then said, "But, I have to tell you that if changing the door seal doesn't work then the problem is something else like a problem with the frame of the car. If it's the frame then there's nothing we can do." (I have a 2011 Prius, no accidents, pristine condition). I started to say that I saw that a small section of the seal in the door was flattened and that was the area that leaked air, the Service Rep held up her hand and spoke over me and said, "I didn't say that we wouldn't change the door seal. We'll change it. I am telling you that if changing the seal doesn't work, then it's something else and we can't do anything." I asked when could I make another appointment to change the door seal. She said Tuesday anytime after noon. I asked for a Saturday. The Service Rep said, "That's difficult." When I explained that I work during the week she said, "We're short staffed on Saturdays." I asked if I could make a Saturday appointment. The Service Rep huffed and said, "Come in early on Saturday. That's the best time to come in because we get very busy on Saturday's" I asked to make an appointment for Saturday and the Service Rep said just come in at 7:30 or 8:00am. Wow! The customer service has really changed for the worse at Ron Tonkin Toyota (750 SE 122nd Ave, Portland, OR 97233). More
I bought a volkswagen jetta from this dealership thinking I got a great car for the value and it ended up being a " total lemon and a just a major nightmare!" The car was'nt even looked at before it wen I got a great car for the value and it ended up being a " total lemon and a just a major nightmare!" The car was'nt even looked at before it went out on the dealership lot it was just given to me after they gave it a wash. Their company advertises a 16 point inspection on all of their used vehicles, mine was the exception. It broke down after I had it for a month and it needed over $900.00 of work that needed to be done on the car and it still needed more than another $350.00 they weren't willing to do in order for it to be fixed properly. The fianance company ( Auto Acceptance ) would only pay a portion of the bill except $200.00. The balance of the bill would later be added to the back of my loan in order for the car to be fixed, I was told I would have to pay the balance of $200.00 before I would get my car back. I shoulnd't have to pay anthing since this car was a " lemon " to begin with. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone! BUYER BEWARE! Don't make the same mistake I did and get fooled buy them. More
Yesterday was a really good day, we got a car! We've been trying to find the right car at the right price and it was thanks to a terrific salesman, Allwyn Jourdan. He helped us hone in on a car that filled our needs! The car is great, looks and drives like new. He took time to show us many different types of cars and shared his personal experiences with different makes andkjhhh models of cars, it was very helpful. We have spent a few weekends looking at different car dealers, at different makes of cars. I'm glad we made it to RT Toyota and Allwyn. He helped us get the deal we needed too. We are totally happy with our New used car and will be back again! Thanks also to the finance manager, David Rhay. He did a great job explaining the process and the options with warranties and the different services available. More

I initially called after seeing the vehicle online and talked with Al. Al was very informative and helpful through the entire negotiation process. I trusted him. We agreed upon a price and I then made airline reservations for my wife and I to fly to Portland. Al picked us up at the airport and saw to all our needs and desires. He is an outstanding salesman. Our experience with Paul was very positive as well. Paul made what can be a very aggrevating and stressful experience very pleasant. It is the best experience I have ever had sitting down with a finace officer at any dealership. We also enjoyed visiting with Pat Collins after Al introduced us to him. THANK YOU FOR A GREAT EXPERIENCE AND A GREAT USED CAR. More
Great service everytime. I have an older high mileage car and they still treat it like its new. Prices compare to oil changes at other quick lubes.
