I decided to ask him for his honest opinion since my friend had recommended Mike and said she had the best experience ever. He was very professional. Listened closely, gave me some good suggestions and showed me exactly what I wanted. He was realistic and yet positive about getting me into a vehicle. I wasn't because I have some problems with my credit and I am just starting to build it back up. I had a vehicle the very same week. Salesman kept calling me "dude" and "my brother" and was a perfect example of why so many feel that car salespeople are often liars and phonies. Although it turned us off immediately, we let it slide because we are truly shopping for a Kia. We thus heard him out and even went for a test drive. Ridiculously pushing to make the sale, he practically would not let us leave the showroom and became loud and aggressive when we said we finally had to leave after almost 2 hours with him. Finally, we simply said that we had to leave right then and I politely reminded him that I had clearly told him before arriving that I was not going to make a decision that day. We then walked out and he came literally running out with his sales manager in tow who was also very aggressive and pushy, asking me over and over why I would not consummate a sale that very day. We reiterated why and told him to work up his numbers and send by e-mail. The salesman said he would do so and that we would have their best offers in 15 minutes. Two hours later, after still not receiving their offers, I called and the salesman (who again called me "dude" and "brother" on the phone) apologized and said he would have them to me in 15 minutes (again). He did not. The next day he still had not sent them, so I called again and he said he would have them in 15 minutes (for the third time). I told him that I did not want this to become a negative experience and that I was now getting tired of waiting for his numbers. He said for the third time that he would have them over to me in 15 minutes. I also finally told him that I did not want him to refer to me as "dude" or "brother". With that he said "Wow, who are you to talk to me like that as if I'm below you" and he hung up. I was appalled and called the owner of the dealership. After I told her the story of my unprofessional experience, she simply said that she was told by BOTH the salesman and the sales manager that I had called them vile names using outrageous language towards both of them. I cannot repeat what they actually said to me since language like that is not allowed in these kinds of reviews. Upon hearing what she claimed they said that I had said, my jaw literally dropped to the ground as I said no such thing, I never use language like that. The owner, Lucia Romeo, then said she believed her people, told me to have a nice day and hung up on me. When I told my wife of this she was so appalled that she herself called Lucia and told her that I had not uttered those words. Lucia then backed down a little and said, "Well, your husband didn't actually say that TO them, but he said it to you (my wife) and loudly enough for them to hear, on purpose". My wife reiterated that no bad words were spoken at ALL. She then thanked my wife for calling and hung up. We have called KIA USA and registered a formal complaint. Extremely unprofessional. We will never buy a car there now and we will tell everyone we know not to buy a car there either. There are plenty of other Kia dealers around. Don't bother with Romeo Kia in Kingston NY. More
Kristen Schleede is simply awesome!! My wife is very skeptical when it comes to car dealerships and for good reasons. So when we went to Romeo Kia over three years ago and met with Lucia, My wife is very skeptical when it comes to car dealerships and for good reasons. So when we went to Romeo Kia over three years ago and met with Lucia, we got the perfect car that my wife is so in love with (Optima). The entire process was flawless and seamless. Usually with car dealers the relationship ends after you sign and drive off...that's where theirs begin. Their service staff have been meticulous in following up on any and every concerns that we had, regardless of how seemingly minute. My wife refuse to have anyone service her car, even though there's a Kia dealership literally five minutes from out house. When we got the recall letter in the mail I took the car to Dutchess Kia out of convenience...it's five minutes from our house. I felt like I was being done a favor and I was disturbing their down time. I was even told that they would check the car based on the recall and if the check-engine light had nothing to do with the recall i would be charged $115 for diagnostic cost. It was then I realized that I had to call Romeo. I spoke to Kristen and explain the letter. She calmly walked me through what they would be doing, how much time it would take, and the cost to us...zero dollars!!! Really long story short...the recalls were addressed, she very politely and professional walked us through what got done, and informed us of what to do should any issues show up...thanks Kristen. You guys really know how to make your old customers feel special...best Kia dealership ever!! More
