My husband and I were looking to purchase a vehicle. We were sold a 2021 Ford Ranger through Roger Beasley Mazda of Georgetown. The salesman informed us that a 120 point inspection was done, they’d had the car on the lot for 7 days and the vehicle had zero issues. We sat down to sign paperwork and were told by the Manager Ronald that the cost of the truck $28,000 included a warranty and we didn’t need to purchase the extended warranty. The next day after getting home, we looked at all the paperwork we were sent home with and there was an unexpected charge of $4500 that was not verbally discussed. We contacted Roger Beasley about the charge, and they explained it was for an extended warranty. We were baffled because in person Ronald stated we didn’t need to purchase an extended warranty, bc it was already embedded in the $28K cost they showed us. When we spoke with Ronald, he lied about the interaction. Then my husband looked up the $4500 warranty that they tried to hide in our financing. He discovered there were 150 1-star reviews for the warranty company, there were similar instances reported on the Better Business Bureau for this practice by Roger Beasley, AND the warranty only costs $2900 at other dealerships (see all attached files as documentation). THEN the next day, a wrench light came on the dashboard. When we called Roger Beasley, they said “oh it’s just a maintenance light. Bring in the vehicle and we’ll check it out”. We already didn’t trust the dealership after the lying regarding the pricing/warranty, so we took the vehicle to Ford. Ford stated this is not a maintenance light, it’s a light indicating issues with the power train. After inspection completed by Ford, the Ranger had an engine knocking code and the transmission needed to be replaced. We called Roger Beasley with the information and requested their 120-point inspection record they had completed. Roger Beasley tried sending us the car fax, then sent us the invoice for the service inspection. Upon our third attempt we got the actual inspection report completed by their service department that stated the transmission slipping and the wrench light comes on intermittently. We were also told by the Finance guy who gave us the inspection report that the car had been on the lot for 150 days, not 7. So, the dealership knew the truck had issues and went above and beyond to conceal the information. This is why they tried to embed an extended warranty into our pricing because they were aware of the issues we were about to face. Ronald had zero empathy for the situation and offered no resolution other than to have their own service department fix the vehicle. Eventually we got ahold of Ronald’s Boss, Rusty. Rusty was no better than Ronald and refused to apologize or make the situation right. Then my husband got in touch with Weldon Munsey. Weldon is the head manager of the dealership and the first person we came across who understood how customer service works. Weldon compensated us for the 4-week debacle dealing with his dealership. They were unwilling to offer us a rental car this entire time and compensate us for a rental car. NEVER BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. They do not provide transparent sales or have any ethics when it comes to their sales techniques. We were lied to from start to finish and the experience is one I want anyone else to have to go through.
