Overcharged well beyond quote (UPDATE: RESOLVED) UPDATE (9/13/2017): Rivertown Toyota got in touch with me and verified that the difference between the quote and final charge was outside of what t UPDATE (9/13/2017): Rivertown Toyota got in touch with me and verified that the difference between the quote and final charge was outside of what they consider normal. They refunded the difference, which I am happy with! Overcharged well beyond quote! When purchasing new tires I was told there was a leak coming from the passenger side boot of my rack and pinion. I took my car to Rivertown Toyota for a 7am appointment to get a quote on the replacement. 3.5 hours later I was given a quote of $1063 for this service, which was parts and labor (replacement of the rack and pinion, power steering hoses, and alignment). When the service was finished at 6pm, I was presented with a charge of $1336, AFTER a $50 off coupon. I was not provided with any explanation for the difference. After pointing out this discrepancy I was only offered a $125 adjustment. I understand quotes sometimes are not an exact science but the quote was similar to other quotes in the area and for that price, I decided to let the dealer do the service. However, this discrepancy in the quote and cost is not at all in line with their sign above the service department that reads "Transparency". On top of that, both my girlfriend and I were recommended to have coolant flushes and fuel line/injector cleanings, despite having recently had those services done shortly before moving to Columbus, GA. They cited that I should be seeing decreased performance and gas mileage. I keep records of my gas mileage after every fill-up and my car's performance and gas mileage are in line with manufacturer stated numbers. We intend on not using Rivertown Toyota for our service in the future if inconsistent accounting and scare tactics are the norm. More
