The amount of the license plate must appear on the paperwork even though the license plate credit was applied. It is likely, the dealership reduced the price of the vehicle the appropriate amount to cover the remaining cost of the license plate.

When negotiating, I agreed to the monthly payment + the dealership covering my license plate for the first year. When doing the paperwork, I was charged the monthly payment I agreed to and an additional $348 for the remaining cost of the plate. There was no extra reduction beyond the monthly payment we agreed to. The only reduction was the amount that the MVD owed me for the plates on my trade in. Otherwise the plates would have been over $600. I do not believe this was a reflection of the sales representative. He was a pleasure to work with.
